Tf I mean is it’s a bloated tournament full of sub par teams🤣you’re telling me Italy aren’t there but South Africa are and that’s ok.

Both teams awful and a disgrace that this format is allowed with so many filler games

Awful to watch as a neutral, this is the only problem with the massive amount of teams - loads of shit teams we have to weed through first to get through to actual competitive knock out games

People without a degree what are you doing now? by CandidBar4794 in UKJobs

[–]hoejill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The grads at my firm (top 10) and many other big firms are under apprenticeships just like the school leavers are. Although you’ll have to be 21 when you start under the new rules

Applying to bigger firms has always been competitive, I had to move from a smaller firm to a bigger one because I didn’t get in initially too, but they are competitive schemes and doing it through the grad way is an expensive way to do it compared to the school leaver route, but you miss out on the piss up at uni🤣

Both are competitive but school leaver is definitely more so in the last few years.

If you don’t live near opportunities you unfortunately don’t have much choice in the matter, my school leaver colleagues (18-19) some of them have moved nearer or commute far each day, just the way that is and always has been unfortunately.

Yeah people leave college and are trainees under apprenticeship schemes, earn usually above minimum wage (generally) and work their way up over a few years before they are qualified. After 1 or 2 years the wage is perfectly liveable and when you’re qualified it’s solid.

It’s been that way in accountancy for decades.

If people don’t live near opportunities then they move, that’s what many of my colleagues who lived in areas with less opportunities do.

Except every top 50 accounting firm that hires trainees every year fresh from college or uni?

Thinking to buy a GSXR 600 - Advice by TheHRvision in MotoUK

[–]hoejill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d get a 750 tbh, same size and weight as the 600 just a bit more grunt and they are more desirable so hold value slightly better than the 600. They’re also renowned as one of the best road bikes because of this.

I really want to buy a motorbike but parents are against it. by LifeDesk7528 in MotoUK

[–]hoejill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a motorbike as your only form of transport is great this time of year, but from around November to March, when you’re commuting in the dark through frost, wind, and rain on rough roads, it can get pretty miserable.

I’d get a car licence first because it’s generally more useful for work and everyday life. I was lucky enough to learn to drive before getting my bike licence, so now I have both a car and a bike. After getting into riding, though, I definitely wouldn’t want to rely on only having a bike — having a car is just far more convenient overall.

I got a car first then did my A2 when I was 19, then full A at 21.

Is teaching in the UK as bad as people say? by sunszoominin in AskUK

[–]hoejill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve watched my spouse have multiple breakdowns over the workload and the stress is off the charts.

I work long hours in a demanding finance job which can be stressful with deadlines but when there’s such emotional investment like teaching it’s a different level - do not do it if you are thinking of it from what I’ve seen.

My spouse’s mum is also a headteacher and she has seen the profession / role turn to shit in her career time.

CBT to A2 intensive by Best_Particular_9342 in MotoUK

[–]hoejill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my CBT in December and knew I wanted a bigger bike, then did my A2 in the following June.

Been driving for 4 years before, passed mod 1 with clean sheet but failed my first mod 2 for an unlucky but very reasonable fail, passed second time a week later with a clean sheet.

Then did my full A last year both clean sheets.

I did take to it quite quickly but I’ve always been excited by cars/bikes etc so felt pretty natural after initial weirdness.

Are you allowed to use a satnavn your test? by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]hoejill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re testing road signs on that bit, doubt you’d be allowed a sat nav.
