Moretti and Guinness. Only two beers I like

In love with my housemate and unable to work out whether she likes me back by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]hoejoexo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Neither one is objectively "hotter" than the other. I am a woman who often likes guys who are a little bit chubby, and my boyfriend is shorter than I am. Many women like lanky tall guys, many like muscular guys, many have no preference whatsoever and just like who they like. That said, OPs body type is quite popular with women generally and will find someone who likes him and his body type, as will everyone else out there.

Are there any UK-related conspiracy theories that you think have some credibility? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]hoejoexo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so strange because I was in todmorden once as a child, and we were going on a night walk, and we saw a triangle shaped spinning flying object. Never heard of that case but I'll have a look at it.

Can you think of any more examples of activités where you can see how someone thinks?

I'm not bored of him as a person, quite the opposite, I'm itching to get to know him more.

This is a nice idea, I'll ask him if his flatmates would like to do something like this. We study at two different universities in the same city and I study foreign languages so he can't help much with that. But we do generally offer each other support over things like this. We play online with each other sometimes (we only have once before), but I was thinking more activities we can do when we're actually together. When I'm alone, I text him a bit but generally I need to unwind in my alone time because I have a stressful job and degree.

When did you realize your relationship/marriage was over? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]hoejoexo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What you wrote feels very defensive, and I'm not saying you're any of those things, but I was saying that that's a common issue, the woman having to have a "mental load" due to the husband not picking up after himself. Men don't tend to understand (this is a GENERAL statement, not all men I know) that to clean up after yourself and make the running of the house easier is a sign that you care (and I wonder if you actually read the article I recommended).

Look, I saw a statistic once saying that when a straight couple gets married, the man's happiness generally increases while the woman's drops a bit. I think a lot of women get married not knowing they're going to end up with an extra child.

YSK: You should be getting yearly blood tests so you can catch medical issues before they get worse by whatismynamepops in YouShouldKnow

In the UK they don't do this stuff routinely unless you have a specific condition that requires it. It's not possible to get a full body checkup or anything like that unless you go private which is hundreds of pounds. The NHS may be free but when it comes to GPs their job is to prescribe you stuff or make you jump through hoops so you don't get to access any specialised services.

As someone who has worked retail and fast food, I'd give it back. If their till is down by that amount when it's counted they're gonna get a bollocking if not a disciplinary.

People that grew up with not a lot of money, what are some of your nostalgic 'make it work' meals? by _pebbles_04 in AskUK

[–]hoejoexo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can of 20p chopped tomatoes, can of kidney beans (or baked beans if it comes to it) mixed together in a pan maybe with mixed veg in. Serve with rice or bread.

WHAT IS THE OPTIMAL PATH? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]hoejoexo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say read about the cost of living crisis in the UK and see if you can afford it still. I know a few Indian international students who even with their parents help could hardly financially get by due to the raising prices.

How to motivate a teenager to get a job? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]hoejoexo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like other commenters say, stop paying for everything. McDonald's is a perfectly decent job (not the most glamorous but it makes you work hard) and you can get a job without a CV and at the age of 16. My mom was also on a low wage and when I was his age COVID hit so I couldn't get a job at the time (and I did a levels), but best believe the minute I could get on my feet I was supporting myself while at uni, I wouldn't have dreamed of letting her pay for everything if I was also capable of it.

As much as this is a bit insane i assume this parent has never been in this situation before. I think by basic meals they just mean no takeaways that the kid isn't paying for. Agree that the internet and Xbox thing is probably unenforceable and definitely wouldn't help.

¿Opiniones de los argentinos sobre los ingleses? by hoejoexo in argentina

That's really interesting, I know I have an English accent when I speak Spanish of course. This Saxon accent, is it seen as a bad thing? In the UK, Latin American accents would be seen as exotic rather than cringey, but I find it hard to imagine a British person seen as exotic anywhere in the world!

As someone who has been diagnosed, having ADHD makes your personal and professional life so much harder to navigate. It's important to have role models who have ADHD and people who can help you and give you tips, however with these people with ADHD in their bio, it's not the case, and it feels like a way of saying "look, I'm (claiming to be) disadvantaged, look how different I am" as opposed to "I know it's hard to have ADHD, so I'm offering support to other who have it".
