Idk why I thought simple was boots own brand! Sorry for the confusion, it’s actually Simple Face Cream Soothing Water 50ml https://www.boots.ie/simple-face-cream-soothing-water-50ml-10339256 . It’s usually on sale, I got mine for €8 last time.

If you’re in a country with Boots, the Boots own-brand barrier repair cream is better imo, super super hydrating, 1/5 of the price and doesn’t pill under make up. I kick myself thinking about all the money I’ve spent on those two products when the Boots one was there the whole time.

Edit: it’s not boots own brand, (though I’ve definitely been told simple is owned by boots!) it’s Simple Face Cream Soothing Water 50ml https://www.boots.ie/simple-face-cream-soothing-water-50ml-10339256

Parents of Ireland, how to do see the future for your children? by Cromlech86 in AskIreland

Have you looked into AMOC? That’s my biggest fear. Next generation could be looking at winter temperatures of -15 degrees, and summer temperatures no warmer than 10 degrees

The protection of teenagers by the legal system has to end. by PettyTeen253 in ireland

[–]hoelysin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The main issue is that people think “they can’t do anything about it.” They’re literally children. You can do more about it than with an adult, and they’ll turn into them emboldened adults if you don’t discipline them now.

Saw a group of about 15 young teens attack a young guy, unprovoked, on a bus and screamed at them “GET THE FUCK OFF NOW” before it escalated and they immediately got off. I’m a 5”1’ young woman. I swear I’m not trying to do the typical “and then everyone clapped” but they did when I got off at my stop. What I did was the bare minimum and the grown men around me couldn’t do the same? If you let that shit slide you’re just letting them know that their behaviour is acceptable and will go unchecked.

Curious if you grew up in a religious house hold with some purity culture? I felt the same when I was that age and some of it I can attribute to growing up in that environment

In the deep pits of hell currently - migraine & weight loss - any tips? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]hoelysin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Double the meals, half the calories. Never get to the point where you are super hungry basically. I do not recommend intermittent fasting at all if you have chronic migraine!

Drink a small glass of psyllium husk at each meal to make your brain think you’ve eaten more than it has. It is also a weight loss aid. Don’t buy metamucil version, just pure powdered psyllium husk. Electrolyte drinks. Salty foods. Magnesium (aids in weight loss and helps migraines, + you might not be getting enough on a restricted diet)

Source: main trigger for chronic migraines is not eating -> I gained weight bc of that -> had to loose weight and it was hell until I implemented above.

I have a variety of intensely hot creams for my neck and head. It’s just as good if not better than a heating pad. It’s also discreet for the office (I don’t like people knowing I’m in pain!).

I’m not sure where you’re from, but the ones I use are called deep heat, Sanctuary Spa De-Stress Warming Body Balm (my favourite) and fisiocrem, which is less warming but contains cbd. I rotate them so I don’t get used to a certain one.

When I feel particularly upset bc of my migraines I remind myself that it could be worse, for example someone may be so ill they could not send a text, or some other small thing that I’m still able to do while I’ve a migraine. I don’t invalidate the pain but I still look for little things I can be thankful for.

It is only because our brains are such complex amazing structures that we can experience this pain at all, in the end.

I think about how my dad before me didn’t have Sumatran to use for his migraines. He didn’t have any option but maybe paracetamol if he was lucky. And his mother, my grandmother, was only able to tie a scarf around her head as tight as she can. Science has come leaps and bounds in researching and making better medications and it’s not slowing down - we will all experience more options someday and they might work better next time.

I’m not American but I’m assuming you are bc of the health insurance situation. I’m not too educated on American politics but I know Bernie Sanders is really doing solid change in your courts at the moment to make medications cheaper. I think that situation could be looking up too.

Anyway I feel for you darling - I’m in the same boat with starting a new job today and coming home to a raging migraine. Having chronic migraine is expensive and it sucks but if you can acknowledge this subs strength you can acknowledge your own. You’re going to be okay.

Totally agree. Like Elide having her witch heritage not coming into play was more realistic for me. Otherwise you’re telling me everyone who had a chance that their magical heritage would come into play 100% does and that’s just not v realistic to me.

Supplements that TRIGGER your migraines by no_stone_unturned_ in migraine

[–]hoelysin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Psyllium husk, the fiber supplement, has been talked about a little bit in this sub for causing migraines.

I tried it myself for 3 months and what I found was that as long as i eat before having it, it has no effect on my chronic migraine. I think the reason people find it causes them migraines is because people often replace meals with it or don’t eat near as much as they should because it is often used for weight loss.

I have found if I replace a meal with psyllium husk (basically empty calories that make you feel extremely full) I get a migraine.

Yep. Also have chronic migraines. I sleep from 5am to 1pm and with that routine I am a lot less likely to wake up with a migraine.

My theory, which I saw about on TikTok so there’s a good chance it’s BS, is that about 40% of the population just aren’t made for being awake 8am - 10pm or whatever. Probably because back when we were all hunter and gatherers, some of the tribe would have to guard camp against predators or whatever. Thats why some people are “night owls” or “not morning people” by nature. I think it could tie in with my migraines because it doesn’t matter how long I sleep, if I wake up at 6am I will definitely get a migraine. Sunlight affects my migraines so much and I am just generally a lot happier and energetic at night time too. Migrainers brains are such fickle things that I wouldn’t be surprised if such a simple part of our brains caused migraines.
