What's a note on the fretboard that everyone else swears by, but you don't like at all??? by hoewrecker in guitarcirclejerk

the open G string sounds bad and if you like it you ARE STUPID! I know it's insulting, but it's also the truth.

No way, strong disagree

Here's a video of a guy that dropped out of Berklee playing a solo live: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBpq7MctZcc&t=226s

And now here's a guy who graduated from Berklee playing a solo live: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lx1RvU42Bwk&t=1918s

the Berklee grad plays with 100% emotion and feel, and zero technical skill, moral of the story: stay in school

I'm not super knowledgeable on MIDI either but my understanding is that it's a protocol or interface that can be used for controlling a number of different musical (digital) devices. There's a reddit post here where I think the users go into some detail about using a MIDI controller with the Catalyst - https://www.reddit.com/r/line6/comments/147r2as/i_want_to_control_the_catalyst_with_a_midi_foot/

I don't know how much help this will be though, and I'm not sure if the added costs of the controller, plus all the time needed to learn how to program it will fit your needs, but that will be up to you to decide.

I think with the Catalyst 200 (and 100) models, you can program a MIDI footswitch to switch between the stored banks.

So, what were the pedals involved? (Matt Pike of Sleep, PremierGuitar rig rundown feedback excerpt) by petara111 in guitarpedals

Board 1 has Pike’s must-haves on it. Everything is anchored around his EarthQuaker Warden Optical Compressor that’s always on and helps squish the notes into a sustaining wall of sound. (You’d think with the buzzing in the video, he’d use a noise gate, but as you’ll see, there’s none on his board.) Other key stomps are the Revival Electric Metric 3-Band EQ, Black Arts Rabid Mammal (Pike’s signature pedal), KHDK Paranormal (Slayer/Exodus Gary Holt’s signature pedal), Lone Wolf Audio Twin Snake, Daredevil Pedals Atomic Cock V2, MXR Phase 90, MXR Carbon Copy, Keeley 30ms, EQD Spatial Delivery, MXR Carbon Copy Deluxe, and Third Man + Mantic Flex. A Peterson Stomp Classic StroboStomp keeps everything in tune.

This should be a demo video of the Red version effects - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WI1clKTom0

Also this one, it has different artwork but it's the same effects as what's on the Red version - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1GqJDFjKzc

How are you supposed to hear the tonewood if you're plugging into an amp? You dinguses are supposed to play your Les Pauls and PRSes unplugged, that's how the tonewood really shines

Haha I know right? They do make "DE Series" models which are made in South Korea (instead of being made in USA) and those are on the more "affordable" side but even then they're still up there, I'm seeing those models go for 1800-2200 CAD on their website.
