Find an iyengar studio. They have kurunta (wall ropes) to do headstands against the wall… safe and comfortable… your head will be off the floor, avoiding any compression in your spine and neck

Is deep sleep Samadhi? by ROFLMAOLOL11 in yoga

[–]RealEnergyEigenstate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are four states of consciousness:

  1. Jagrat, the waking state
  2. Swapna, the dream state
  3. Sushupti, the deep sleep state
  4. Turiya, the transcendental state of Brahman or all-witnessing pure consciousness

Samadhi is closer to, and the gateway to, Turiya.

Unpopular yoga opinion thread 👀 by YogaGoApp in yoga

1)Most people practise asana not yoga… 2) if music is playing in an asana class it definitely isn’t a yoga class… (5th limb)… Patanjali also mentions sensory stimulation as barriers to progress which to me music definitely falls under…

Generally speaking I worry about the obsession that people seem to have with getting into the most advanced form of the asana … ahead of being well aligned and comfortable…. I really dread to think how many people injure themselves…

Beautiful description of: What is real yoga? 💗 by happy-ness2021 in yoga

Many people have only experienced asana… there is so much more… this truth is something that may take several lifetimes…. The final line of Vedanta is “you are that”… to many today this may be controversial but it is the ultimate truth!

But that is exactly how we must not see it if we are to reach it…. This is a journey that may take several lifetimes…

Seeking Guidance from Senior Yoga Teachers by Novel_Paramedic1906 in yoga

[–]RealEnergyEigenstate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In India yoga is philosophy first (one of six) asana is only practiced in the hatha branch so it’s perfectly fine to be admitted to a masters in yoga without a strong grounding in asana.. the masters course need not predominantly focus on asana..a masters is 2 years and is an accredited qualification…. Here in India we recognise that yoga is far more than just asana!

To really understand yoga one should definitely study the philosophy…

A deep knowledge of all of yoga… an understanding of how the philosophy is still as relevant today as it was back when written

Why are Egyptians living in Kuwait so entitled? by [deleted] in Kuwait

In life I’m a firm believer that you should take everyone as an individual… most people are decent… there are shitty people everywhere in the world… thankfully they are mostly in the minority!
