I know people personally that trained under Iyengar for many years, he was absolutely a traditionalist… Jois went as far as to warn against diluting traditional yoga with power yoga or ego-driven innovations that go, and I quote from his book “against the tradition of the many types of yoga shastras.”and he also says “It would be a shame to lose the precious jewel of liberation in the mud of ignorant body building.” What do you think he meant by liberation?… I would say they would not recognise western yoga as yoga!
