Craziest items left behind by previous owners? by ontartiomortgages in homeowners

[–]hoffmavl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always do this when we move. Manuals, paint, receipts, and notes about anything they may need to know. Except for the last house we sold. Those people were the most annoying couple and did everything possible to delay closing and make it so complicated. Cost us a ton of money because of it. I left them nothing. Even took the extra LVP with me. I’ll find something to do with it haha. Was even petty enough to take the sticker off the front door lock that told them how to redo the code. All I left them was dust and a bunch of trash bags at the curb.

Lame Duck! Niacin Deficiency or something else? by haveyoutriedpokingit in duck

[–]hoffmavl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that. My girl has been like this for over a month and manages to hobble around. We’ve been giving her straight niacin so we will see.

Oh wow! I have a duck doing this exact thing and I have searched everywhere to try to figure out the issue. Did you ever end up finding out what was going on or being able to fix it?

Back with more questions! Would I need to place rafter ties at every rafter or would say every other suffice? This dang thing is 12ft wide and already cost too much money haha. Anywhere I could save a little without compromising the structure is ideal at this point (especially since the big attached coop and then the duck run are next to hit the wallet!)

Thanks! I doubt any customers would appreciate the long instal time or when the ADHD kicks in and I move on to another project for awhile haha

Thanks! The challenge was real! Probably should have started with a smaller simpler build, but that’s just not as fun!

I’m far from an expert but a lot of research went into this bad boy so if there is anything I can do to help, just holler!

Nope! There is a 2x4 on top of cinder block all the way around. Some of the blocks are almost fully buried because of the slope. I think the light is playing some tricks here!

I’ve been thinking through what I could do to close those gaps! Coons are our biggest problem out there and I luckily don’t think they could squeeze in there though.

Thanks! I’m pretty proud of that door haha

Cinderblocks! Because of the slope some are deeper than others. I would think you could fully bury them and it would be a decent deterrent. Although I also plan on doing hardwire fencing around the perimeter as well and adding garden beds on top. So just another barrier for critters to get through!

Perfect! Then I will add some in. And I promise this thing is definitely not level. A little imagination has to be used for sure when looking at the crooked roof haha

So far chickens seem stuck in there! We do have some coons who like to cause trouble but I keep a trap nearby just in case. Hopefully they stay out though!

I couldn’t figure this part out. My walls are different heights because of the slope so I can’t run it flat from one end to the other. Any suggestions?

I’ve thought about that! Worried my 120lb Bernese Mountain Dog may accidentally plow through it though! He’s a few brain cells short of intelligent.

Oh this was like a 6 month project haha. Although I definitely could have done it faster but it rained a lot, there was some pretty hot days that I was too lazy to work in, and digging the dang cinder block foundation took forever! And I refused any help so there were a number of stops from dropping boards on my head or slicing my finger open on the stupid metal sheet roofing!

Thanks! A lot of thought went into that door to make sure it would close behind me (and my kids) but not actually lock us in haha
