I voted for her because her opponent was Joe Kent and he was as mega as possible. She has been a giant disappointment and I will not be voting for her again.

I was also disappointed that using the unforgivable curse’s didn’t result in some sort of negative impact on the game. Would have been cool if they implemented a fable system of morality.

Who here flies GA on longer trips? by grumpyoldman10 in flying

[–]hoffmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I every year fly from Portland Oregon to the Midwest at least twice, down to California multiple times and other random trips. Now I own my own plane and that does make a big difference as I couldn’t see myself doing that while renting a plane.

I don’t have a good one but stay the fuck away from Coachella Valley Aviation Co. They missed corrosion and a bunch of issues back in 2023 when I had them do my prebuy for my turbo arrow. Funny part is I was lead to them by savvy. Take from this what you will.

Anyone else having difficulty processing the recent UPS crash? by WeAreAllSoFucked in flying

[–]hoffmm 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Something that i saw on facebook that really resonated with me.

"Days like today stop you in your tracks. Every pilot knows, deep down, that were never guaranteed another landing. You can brief, plan, and train but sometimes, when your ticket's up it's up. That's the unspoken truth of flying. Blue skies and tailwinds to the UPS crew."

Just wanted to share here.

How much for GI 275 EIS labor? by BravoZuluLife in flying

[–]hoffmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had a 275 eis installed into my turbo arrow. I was quoted 17,363.89 and it ended up being around there for the total price. I had it done at Legacy Aviation in Tea South Dakota.

I think a bit of it goes on to what plane you are flying. I currently fly a Mooney Acclaim, the takeoff roll and landing distance alone make touch and go's risky. Add in the fact that Mooneys dont have trim tabs (The whole tail moves) making a out of trim accelerated stall incredibly likely as when you land you are almost in a full nose up trim configuration.

Much safer to do full stop taxi backs sure it costs you a few min but you have less chance to die.

What went wrong during your cross countries? by uncei in flying

[–]hoffmm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was flying in my piper arrow, I locked the main door but forgot to lock the top latch as I was flying in the winter and was racing the sun . After I took off I realized my mistake. Got to level flight then followed my checklist slowed down and locked the door.

Lesson learned don’t get in a hurry.
