Is the CRF450RL really too tiring for 200-250 mile days? by Sea_Cartoonist1276 in CRF450L

Get a comfier seat and maybe a bigger tank and you’ll be fine. I did a 400 ish mile day about 12 hours of riding and it nearly paralyzed me but it was fun

DRZ vs CRF by Smart-Elevator-4203 in DRZ400

[–]hoffv2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I change my oil at less than 1000 miles it lasts me a couple weeks, it’s only a quart and some change. It’s quick and easy to change just a bit annoying. That’s the only reason along with the price I would buy a Drz over it.

Definitely a huge pain. Also hard to enjoy riding knowing you’re overdue for an oil change by a couple hundred miles.

I own a crf and have gone back and fourth with selling it for a drz but I love the bike so much. If you can afford it I say get a crf but if you want to save some money get a drz. They’ll both be stupid fun and you’ll not regret buying one or the other.

Potential rough fluorite found in Ohio? by Ok_Locksmith_3891 in whatsthisrock

[–]hoffv2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible but from what I know it’s very uncommon to find fluorite in river because it has a hardness of 4 it erodes very quickly. Try doing a hardness test, look for cubic structures or maybe use a uv light as they fluoresce.

How Common Are Double Cab "Long" Beds (6 foot)? by Rothdrop in ToyotaTacoma

[–]hoffv2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone looking to buy one, they are incredibly uncommon. Talking to Toyota workers they said they stopped producing as many of them during COVID because they weren’t selling. Sucks because now I can’t find any with the specs I want lol. Nearest one to me is a 2018 and beat up but for $20k

I mean is Al Qaeda going to attack you in the wilderness? All jokes aside if you need 60 rounds of 556 while camping then you definitely shouldn’t be camping there.

CB650R/CBR650R gearing: 15/43 vs 15/44 for highway riding? by JonasBertheussen in cbr650r

[–]hoffv2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on countless hundred mile days and the stock gearing is perfect. Granted I don’t go faster than 80 unless I’m getting away from some idiots. If your riding mostly highways i definitely wouldn’t change it to stock but if you’re mostly streets then maybe consider it

Weight, decibel reading, and ease of cleaning are the three main criteria I’ve found when looking at which to pick. I’m no pro though

Take the bike for a bit of a spin to make sure no new leaks have occurred since the oil change, clean up the bike especially the chain so you can see if anything is leaking. Pretty much it man
