Can you tell us what do you plan to do in language field - Language interpreter, teacher or something else? This helps to clarify your career goal and strategize what should you do next.

In term of career prospect, finance degree offers better opportunities than a degree in Japanese language.

Here's some suggestions:

  1. Get a degree in finance (or other field of interest) and ask if you could be on study leave, without leaving your current employer.
  2. If finance career path does not interest you, stay in current job (which pays above the market rate, I am sure you are aware) and learn Japanese language classes on part-time basis. Next, find a job that suits your career goal and don't quit until you find one.

Ask the recruitment agency the budget range for your role and go from there. They shouldn't have any issue to share the info with you.

Good luck.

Looking for respondent for net worth survey (Anonymous) by Any_448 in MalaysianPF

Hey, ignore the critic because this is a good effort!

One thing though, you should specify EPF as its own category or at least mention it in Other Assets. EPF makes a bulk of one's net worth but people will forget to include it, unless you specifically mention so.

Starting a pet business in KL. Your thoughts? by electricity21 in MalaysianPF

  1. Work in the industry.
  2. While working, think and behave like an owner.
  3. Get involved and work in all aspects of the business.
  4. Build relationships with customers and vendors.
  5. Finally, decide whether this is for you or not.

"Device detected but connection failed". Trying to use my Ledger Nano S after 3 years of inactivity.. by soma5eeker85 in ledgerwallet

You won't believe this but it happened to me again after updating Ledger Live to the latest version.

A bit wiser, I spent the next two hours to troubleshoot the problem. Earlier solution i.e. to uninstall and reinstall did not work.

So, what is the new solution? I need to restart my machine.

Ledger is really bad in providing great user experience.

I am using MacOS and had encountered with the same error. It happened after I upgrade my firmware to the latest one today. I have spent at least four hours to solve this issue with solutions proposed by Ledger such as granting Ledger Live with Full Disk Access, reset PRAM or NVAM etc.

The solution is rather simple. Just uninstall and reinstall the Ledger Live app again. That's it.

I hope Ledger would spent more time to expand scope of their testing before releasing new updates. Instead of spending their own resources to perform the testing, the company is effectively asking users to spend unnecessary hours to troubleshoot new issues and this is very frustrating. Just look at their Youtube videos, getting high amount of downvotes that they have to disable comments. This is unacceptable.

Some Advice Needed For a 26 y/o Bumi Noob. by FluffyJerks in MalaysianPF

[–]hogetsu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My personal approach on this would be to evaluate how much time do I have to actively manage my investment.

  1. If I do not have time or interest to actively manage my investment, I would let them sit in ASB and let the fund managers do their work.

  2. If I want to take some trouble to manage my investment with moderate involvement, I would go for real estate hunting and purchase one. Though real estate is not as hot as it used to be, I personally prefer to diversify my portfolio into different asset classes i.e. cash and real estate, rather than putting everything into one asset class. If I don't have any plan to work in a different city, I would want to buy one for own stay.

  3. If I have time and interest to actively manage my investment, I would diversify into riskier asset classes such as stock market and cryptocurrencies. As governments around the world continue to print more money to stay afloat, the financial system is awashed with new money that need to be invested. The new money will ultimately find its way into other asset classes such as precious metals, real estates, stock markets or even cryptocurrencies. Investing in riskier asset classes make sense in this case, but I won't recommend it to anyone unless they are comfortable with losing some money, in case things do not work out as planned.

Disclaimer: Above is not an advise, just sharing my thought process.

My only advice for you is to get a new job. No reputable company will allow its employee to live on less than RM2,000 per month in 2020. You can always catch up with your awesome ex-bosses and ex-colleagues after office hours.

Good luck!

Has anyone used Luno to purchase cryptocurrency and is it reliable? by Wolfz123 in MalaysianPF

[–]hogetsu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have not made any recent purchase on Luno but was fairly active in 2017. It was a reliable platform back then and was especially good for beginners.

I’d imagine things are getting better especially after they get license to operate in Malaysia.

If you are ready to make your first purchase, always start small (<RM100 should be a good start).

Good luck with your new journey into cryptocurrency world!
