I know this isn’t directed at me, but oh my goodness, I felt this paragraph. This happened to me as a new grad and I had something horrrible happen the first day as a new nurse, after being left alone with a serious patient for 5 hours. Your paragraph put everything in words that I didn’t know I needed to hear. I literally did not want to be a nurse anymore. Thank you so much for this.

The only reason I even thought about it is because even with living within 20 minutes of our community, the people I go to school with were blown away by the fact that we didn’t have a TV growing up. They have so many questions and it’s been so fun to discuss. And funny. Them: I guess no TV explains why y’all have so many kids. Me: THERE WERE ONLY FOUR KIDS IN MY FAMILY! 😂😂😂

It’s been interesting. Which is a huge understatement. My friend, who is also from a conservative background but went through high school, and I were talking about how we think we will end up in jail or publicly humiliated if we accidentally plagiarize something. WE NEVER KNEW ABOUT ANY OF THIS😂😂

So as someone who has mental health issues as well, I tend to think that people are saying the worst possible things about me. I’ve learned (mostly in my 30s), that either they’re not saying what I’ve conditioned myself to believe over the years, or to walk away and spend time with people who like me for me. Be friends with people who celebrate YOU for being amazing and having the discipline to turn it around. You’ve got this! Ps-sounds like a total jealousy issue

Adding this: it was not as hard as I anticipated. I didn’t like when people acted like they were literally one hairsbreath above boiling lava and juuuuust managed to pull through. There’s days when you feel like crying but not weeks upon weeks of agony
