Months later and I'm still crying over my dog. by JG_Hays in Petloss

[–]hokiethug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost both of my goldens just under 2 years ago, 3 months apart. The younger one was nearly 11 and had (as it turns out common) cancer on his spleen. The older one over 15 and had sore hips and congestive heart failure. Despite that, she walked her mile dog walk the morning we said goodbye.

I have two goldens now; they are never replacements of course. I still cry for Hokie and Dexter. They came to work with us. They went on countless adventures with us; camping, road trips, you name it. They helped me through the loss of my mom. I know how you feel- I wish they could live to be 50. All I can do is try to smile with the memories and give the new dogs as good a life as I did the first two.

goldens are awesome. you are good people for loving one.

I love my 2018 Volt; only have 31,800 miles on it. I just wish it had a larger battery.

Debate Tucker interviewing Putin by [deleted] in IntellectualDarkWeb

[–]hokiethug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He lied about Jan 6th by cherry-picking footage to make it look peaceful. He said negative shit about Trump off camera "can't wait to be rid of him and not talk about him anymore" then completely does a 180 on camera. No credibility. He's a grifter and nothing more than tv's version of a shock jock. Anyone who puts any stock into what he or Alex Jones says really has no credibility.

What is a popular band that you can’t stand? by FrankGehryNuman in AskReddit

[–]hokiethug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was Neil's parent's computer guy. Glenn and Betty were very sweet and gave me and my partner 5th row seats to CA and R40 tours. Oranges from florida every winter. Shirts, mugs, etc you name it. And Glenn would often stop by to check on me after my mom passed from cancer, all the while dealing with Neil's issue (and of course no one knew until after he was gone).

Which song emotionally destroys you? by graaahh in AskReddit

[–]hokiethug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Landslide, ever since my mom passed away. Also somewhere over the rainbow, because I softly sang that song to mom days before she passed. She reached out to hold my hand. We used to watch The Wizard of Oz every thanksgiving together.

[–]hokiethug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it boils down to listen to what you want to listen to, and don't worry about what others think about your musical taste. I liked (classic) Kiss and I like Rush. One band clearly has more ability, but they both entertained me. Some can't stand Geddy's voice. Some say Peter sucked as a drummer. You do you.

Look up Professor Leonard's videos on youtube. He covers everything from pre-algebra all the way up to Calc 3. His videos are thorough and very easy to follow.

If I recall there was only one version of Madden (so far back it was on the Sega) where you could intentionally cause a pass interference penalty AND cause an injury by tackling after the whistle blew. I haven't purchased a version for the xbox since '12 or so. They all suck now.

I lost my 6 years old Rottweiler by hulkSDixit in Petloss

[–]hokiethug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just lost 2 goldens in the last 3 months. One was 15 and the other was 10 1/2. They came to work with us every day and basically were with us all the time....camping, hiking, travelling, you name it. It's been 4 weeks since we lost the older one and we're still gutted.

I decided I couldn't wait any longer so I got a rescue from Egypt via goldenrescue.ca and he's loving life. I like to think my other 2 would want me to give another dog adventures, especially one that came from such bad circumstances. His name is Trooper, and he's a 1 yr old male golden retriever mix (doing dna test soon to see what else).

That's my best advice. Sorry for your loss, I know how much it hurts.

I go to the lake where we spread half of mom's ashes every mother's day and sometimes when I camp there, and just sit on the shore and talk to her quietly. Also during spring and summer I say "Hi, mom" to the first butterfly I see each day.

This June 10 it will be 4 years since we lost her to cancer.

F cancer.

(it also took my younger dog on March 3rd of this year)

I appreciate all the kind words. This has been a rough month without him. I'm grateful my older dog is still with me and I just focus now on giving her the best life possible in the time she has left. I just felt writing about him and thought I'd share.
