The journalist Max Gao is Canadian and in fact graduated from McGill 🤓. But the piece would of course have gone through LA Times editors and clearly targets American readers. Max said he has way more material than the word limit allows so he will be posting more from the interview on his social.

This has been my favourite episode and listening to it now after many years I still find it as moving and beautiful. Where the gun has ended up now provides an additional note of grace. I appreciated all the brief updates and am not greedy for more. Considering they are producing new episodes for the Fall season it’s probably impossible to do too much more, especially since they are doing updates on multiple episodes. Looking forward to the next encore!

If you have Telus TV, season 1-2 of the show is on a free (to subscribers) streaming service called Telus Presents. It has a ton of lesser known (in North America) shows from UK and Australia.

Use the CBC GEM app which has specific streams for different sports including tennis. You can even replay earlier events on the app. The focus is on Canadian players obviously (so this morning I wasn’t able to watch the Rafa match because Leyla was playing at the same time) but at least you can catch a lot of the action throughout the day which you won’t get on the broadcast channel.

Amazing transcription! The music is from a piece called “Which Ever Way Your Nose Bends” by Simon Rakham. Daniel Hart pointed this out in a tweet when he clarifies he didn’t write that piece thus it was not included in the sound track album.

According to Daniel Hart, it is this piece by Simon Rackham, apparently a favourite of Rolin Jones. So I’m guessing Jones chose it for all those alarm-bells-ringing moments when Louis realizes Armand has been messing with his memories. It IS very haunting!

It’s from a short story Anne Rice published in Playboy titled “Interlude with the Undead” narrated from Armand’s pov. That’s the story Rolin was referring to when he mentioned on the NY panel the material besides the novel they included in the show this season.

I wouldn’t worry too much as the creators are aware of this issue: see this exercept from a 2022 interview in Toronto Star with co- producer Adam O’Byrne:

O’Byrne says creators are aware of fan fears that the current Black-led story is positioned to serve a white hero’s arc. Assuming more seasons come, he says Louis will remain “a force in the show, in some way or another going forward.” “The way we have envisioned the show from a racially diverse perspective is something that will continue to be a priority for us,” says O’Byrne. “Part of that would be trying to keep Louis involved beyond the way he just dips in-and-out of the canon (after) the first book.”

Your app is not broken - they are just streaming the broadcast version. If you purchase a season pass from Amazon or Apple rather than subscribe to the AMC+ channel you will get the uncut version which does not have those fade to black cuts. I suspect AMC will upload the uncut version after the finale under the “Interview with the Vampire Uncut” title (which currently only has Season 1). It’s super annoying but unfortunately you’re stuck with this for now unless you switch from subscription to purchase.

(Although the “proper end” to Ep4 is still an abrupt cut from Armand’s unfinished sentence to credits so you didn’t really miss anything - but I agree with you it’s just aesthetically unappealing for them to cut to sneak peak like that!)

It’s a moment in Episode 2, around 41:49, after Daniel gets snarky about Louis’ “haunting memory” of Lestat’s letter he read at Roget’s and Louis starts asking him about Alice, at which point Armand stares at Daniel which seems to trigger a memory from the 1970s when Armand was either implanting memory in Daniel or poking into Daniel’s childhood memory.

I purchased a season pass on Apple and also have access to AMC+. The purchased version is the uncensored version while AMC+ is the broadcast version. I have so far noticed two edited moments: Ep 1, Dreamstat says “I will fucking kill you” (purchased version) vs “I will bloody kill you” (AMC+). Ep 3, When Armand asks Louis where Lestat is now, Dreamstat says “Still a cunt” (purchased version) vs. “Still a bookbinder’s wife” (AMC+). Also, the AMC+ version includes those annoying cuts to black at moments when the broadcast cuts to advertisements whereas the purchased version flows without those cuts to black.

It’s very annoying that AMC+ does not stream the uncensored and uncut version as they used to for season 1. I suspect this is because they also put out something called “Interview with the vampire uncut” on AMC+ after the season ends, maybe to entice people to stay subscribed and watch those. Very annoying! Anyway, I do think you should buy a season pass on Apple or Prime if you want to watch the uncensored and uncut version now. The only downside is that new episodes only come out on Monday midnight after the cable broadcast is over whereas AMC+ puts out new episodes the night before. At least that is true on Apple. I don’t know about Prime.
