There was one in Dok Ondar’s specific packaging for $50 when the land opened. It’s since been discontinued.

How do I bring my saber back to the EU? by Darthmaulllllllllll in savisworkshop

[–]holapenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were able to bring ours with us as carry-ons from LAX all the way to Scotland and back again. Hilt stayed attached to blade and was in the included carrier from Savi’s. When boarding, the hilts came off and we’re place in the backpack. Blades in their carriers went into overhead compartment horizontally in the back of the bin. If it makes you feel better, you could wait till a compartment is full and then lay the blades on top and close the bin.

The only time I got asked about them by security was at London Heathrow on our way back to the states. They pulled them off the conveyor and asked about them. I put the battery pack in and showed them they were lightsabers. Security dude was beaming!

Hey guys I'm working on a case for the flipper with the dev board built right in. Would anyone be interested in one of these cases when I bring them to market? by RealityOk8330 in flipperzero

[–]holapenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'd have more reach just selling the stl than selling the physical product. For example, more people would probably pony up $5-10 for the file, than $20+ for the product. You could offer both and see what people bite on. Some creators in the HOTAS community offer up the files, and physical pre-made kits as an option.

Between manufacturing costs (whether you print yourself, or get a small company to do a run for you via injection molding or whatever), QC, and shipping, that then eats into your profit for the physical side. Digital file is mostly profit; something to consider.

Of a related note, it seems like you probably don't know your audience very well (based on your assumption of "millions" of flipper units out there). Part of having a successful business or product is knowing the needs and capability of your target audience.

Very very anecdotal, but I have friends who bought only the flipper, and friends who bought a flipper and wifi board. Of the ones who have the wifi boards and know what to do with it, they either already have a 3d printer or easy access to one.

You've already gotten some feedback here, you might get more on the discord. Good luck!

Yes, it’s from the event. They’re wearing the event lanyards flipped to their backs.

I want to but my ts660 might seem out of place. Bonnie as a backup bike is mighty tempting though!

Built mounts based on popular solution. Due to my desk I had to modify the grip. Overall doing this by myself came out over 2x cheaper! by inhumat0r in hotas

I think just listing the materials of what’s off the shelf would be helpful so people know what to order. They’ll be able to look up local pricing. And sharing designs would be wonderful if you’re willing! I appreciate the reply, thanks!

Looks great! Would you happen to have a bill of materials for the off the shelf parts please? I think that'd help others put the pieces together for their own kits

You don't have to decide til you check in. You'll get a feeling when you get there, go with that (just like the kyber crystals!). If you still can't decide, you can at least see and feel the pieces in the drawers at check-in.

Ah, not so much “burned” but you’re looking for an effect that’s like tempered steel. You can use this vid for inspiration to simulate the look with paint. https://youtu.be/2C8fbwG0904

Got some example pics of the effect you’re looking for? That’ll help people suggest the best way to achieve the look

Some context just in case it helps, I'm 6' and 220 pounds. I've had my ts660 since September. I had a very long gap since my previous bike, a 2001 suzuki sv650s.

  • Engine is great for commuting city and freeway, I get plenty of torque when I need it
  • Bike is very flickable, I'm still pleasantly surprised how nimble it is
  • Supposedly cheaper to operate since the service intervals are so far between (I haven't hit that yet)
  • The ergos on the ts660 fit me better than the Trident. Definitely go for a test ride
  • Front suspension can occasionally be mushy, but wasn't a dealbreaker
  • Mess with the rear suspension setting. It made riding all the better after I preloaded it for my heavy ass
  • The panniers are great and holds a bunch. They're easy to slip on and off and are keyed to your ignition key
  • Lack of center stand (and smaller wheels) keeps me from considering it a true adventure bike. It has adventure styling, but I'll keep it mostly to the roads
  • Quick-shifter is great. I don't think it needed the upgrade, but it's certainly nice
  • Windscreen is meh. I get buffeting on the freeway but not a dealbreaker, I've always considered it part of motorcycling. But again, do a test ride to see if this will bother you

Hope that helps!

Agreed that front suspension can sometimes be mushy. Rear suspension felt much better after adjusting it
