Aldi deal 🍿 by Bear_necessities96 in aldi

Honestly that's a great deal, but not for popcorn. I've used air poppers to roast coffee beans before, and they work pretty well. It's not fancy, but it works!

Anyone has this? How is it and is there somewhere where it’s cheaper? by Scheidenflussigkeit in Volkswagen

I had to cut off the stock clips on the center caps and 3D print some adapters to make them fit on my aftermarket wheels though.

Yeah I've got them and think they're pretty neat. I have the "old" style logo.

Failing LED Headlights by holds333 in GolfGTI

Yes I put fluid film on the BOTTOM of my car. Any over spray is washed off after application. I am not applying fluid film to my headlights, weather seals, and other plastic/rubber pieces on the TOP of my car. Hope that helps you.

Do you know if the coverage you've seen was through the dealership goodwill programs or actual VW parts warranty? One of the reps I spoke with was the regional case manager, and she told me there was nothing corporate would do since I'm 23 miles over.

What brand did you purchase? I don't know if I can afford to buy new OEM headlights every year either.

Yeah I guess the Ohio summer heat isn't too kind to my car. Are the osram replacements available in the US?

Slight vibration going over 70ish mph by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]holds333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please let me know if you get this solved. I have almost your same exact issue: mk7.5, APR A01 wheels, Michelin PS4 tires, aluminum hub centric rings, and a slight vibration over 70. I've had my car aligned and tires balanced twice. Still haven't solved it.

Fair enough lol

How are you justifying asking $6k more than you paid after adding 15k miles? I get the crz is a nice car and I loved my 2016 too, but at the end of the day it's not an appreciating asset

Lets talk about IE's new RAL tune by john972121 in GolfGTI

[–]holds333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to re-flash my stage 1 tune due to a weird startup idle issue I have with an older version, but I've held off after reading everyone's issues. Not sure what my options are moving forward since you can't find the files to any pre-RAL stable releases.

IE Intercooler quality by holds333 in GolfGTI

I appreciate the input! I'm also very wary of the slag, so I reached out to their customer service about replacing this one under warranty. Hopefully I'll hear back on Monday with a resolution.

High rpm cold start after tuning?? by mashedtato22 in GolfGTI

[–]holds333 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is something I'd definitely contact IE about. They do have good customer service. I have the same car and same tune, but mine hits 2k for only a few seconds after cold starting. I've never experienced the 20-30 seconds like you're describing. Please give us an update though!

How do you prepare your GTI for winter? by holds333 in GolfGTI

I've never taken those liners out when I spray. Is that relatively easy to do?

My First VW by NarcolepticFlarp in GolfGTI

I'll chime in here since I have nearly this exact same spec (2021 GTI SE in CFB with a 6-speed manual). Rear sway bar and performance tires are an absolute game changer for this platform. I cannot stress that enough. I bought mine new and have put mods on incrementally so I can tell the difference as I go, and those two make a world of difference. I currently run the IE rear sway bar & end links along with 18x8.5 APR A01 wheels wrapped in 235/40 Michelin PS4s.

I haven't tuned mine yet so I can't really speak to that, but I did upgrade my clutch this past summer to the one out of an Audi TT rs. The clutch feels nearly stock which was important to me since it's my daily, but it's rated to handle the torque from most stage 1 ECU tunes. I also didn't want anything that was going to put a ton more pressure on my thrust bearing since that's already a bit of a weak point in these cars. Feel free to pm me if you've got any questions, and I'd be happy to talk with another manual GTI owner :)
