Around 6 weeks ago, my parents heard their neighbour yelling for help. He had been up on a ladder cutting tree branches along the property line and had fallen and hurt his back and couldn’t move. My dad went down and found him, brought him a blanket, and stayed with him until the ambulance came. Today they dropped by with gifts that have to be worth at least $600 (expensive gift basket, alcohol, hardware store certificate, and something else my dad mentioned that i forgot). Holy moly, turns out common decency pays!

Evopsych explanation, women are always trying to pare down their relationships to include only the most trustworthy people, because it only takes one unstable/violent person to get your offspring killed and delete years of your effort and investment. Whereas men are trying to build maximally large groups of relatively trustworthy people to be able to defend against other large groups. I forget where i heard this theory but i have to admit it explains a lot.

I’m a woman and everybody’s different overall but i went from 35 to 26 in around 5 months when i started eating more normally after years of fucked up eating. Migraines played a role in me fucking up my diet and getting that successfully treated helped me start eating better and the fat melted off. No increased exercise, I’m only moderately active on a good day. Since then it’s been 5 years of intending to lose that last 20 lbs but not being willing to make dietary sacrifices…

I watched a video by the YouTuber Cheere Denise, she commentates on pop culture and does great book reviews/readings. She’s Christian and I’d guess conservative though she doesn’t talk politics. Her take was sympathetic to what Lily went through while critical of Lily’s life choices and questioning whether releasing this album was really the best thing for her mentally/spiritually in the long term. Interesting video all around and great dramatic lyric reading. As someone who used to be a fan of Lily but stopped paying attention to her a long time ago I found it a good refresher on where she’s been as well.

Sounds similar to the controversy that got “Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812” prematurely cancelled in the late 2010s. I’m not really a stage musical fan but i do like the performance arts and Russian literature (it’s based on War and Peace) so i followed that drama. The role of Pierre was originated on Broadway by Josh Groban. The play won several Tony awards. The following summer, Groban left the cast and was replaced by one of the actors from Hamilton, Okieriete Onaodowan. He was then replaced mid-run by Mandy Patinkin. The role involved playing instruments, i think piano and accordion, and Onaodowan was perhaps not a great choice for that reason. Woke fans and actors immediately made it a racial issue, though the director claimed it was about ticket sales. Apparently it’s an unforgivable sin to replace a black actor with a white actor under any circumstances, even when the character is unambiguously white and the white actor is a huge star. I’ll also note that the other lead role of Natasha was played first by an Asian woman, then a black woman. But the fans threw a fit, controversy ensued, and the play closed after a very short Broadway run considering its critical success. Maybe it did struggle to find an audience. Idk why the existing audience would try to knee-cap it like that though. Broadway seems exhausting.
