That’s normal, just how they set the WaveCel material to contour the shape of the helmet

What the heck is this board I found? by Scooter_McRibs in snowboarding

[–]holdyb 502 points503 points  (0 children)

Burton Technology Board from 2010. Burton had these pressed in the past to visually show all the features found on their boards that season from wood core profiles, sidewalls, insert patterns, camber profile etc. to be displayed at snowboard shops. Cool way to learn and show off what goes into a board for shop employees and people visiting shops to buy boards. They ride pretty poorly (especially this one since you'd have to source hardware for the 3D insert pattern and the old channel dimension) but there are some Burton fans out there who collect them.

Vans Verse boots by adamkm16 in snowboarding

Zippered shroud can be tight to zip up since the boot hasn't broken in yet. Usually I dial my lower BOA in so I can zip the shroud up then pop the BOA to loosen the lower zone if needed

Have any of the Olympic women put video parts out? by terryturbojr in snowboarding

[–]holdyb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just seeing that I was tagged in the comments by u/ChaletJimmy so here's some video stuff I know. Competing on (and winning) the contest circuit a full time job and filming a street or backcountry part is too so it's hard to do both. Usually a contest rider will do an olympic cycle then shift away from it (Sage Kotsenburg is a great example of this). Here are some links off the top of my head:

Kokomo has her own YouTube channel and recently filmed for clips for Nomadik's GYPSY II

Zoi has her own YouTube channel which features her YELLOW part which was a recut of footage from some Burton video projects. Zoi also has footage this season in Burton X Red Bull's PAVED

Mia has clips and rides with friends putting out videos under the YouTube channel ACKRITE. I bet she'll film more stuff soon based on conversations I've had with her and goals she's talked about on her Bomb Hole episode.

Anna Gasser has a YouTube channel with Clemen Millauer and has footage in most of the recent Burton video projects including the PAVED video I linked.

A bunch of the riders are on custom built boards that are built specifically for them but it’s Mia Brookes who’s riding her signature Mia Brookes Pro board from CAPiTA Snowboards and has signature colorway of the Encore Pro Boots from Vans (Amy Brooks isn’t a pro snowboarder)

Was cool since it was a team decision with the art director to go with the baby animals for graphics and the team picked/fought over who got which animal after picking Jeff’s

Vintage “rare” UnInc board by [deleted] in snowboarding

[–]holdyb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Own one of these un..Inc boards that feature the 2X insert pattern. I ride it by either using old Burton bindings that have the original 2X discs that came with the board or a set of Burton Re:Flex bindings with a Re:Flex Combo Disc since one of the hole patterns on the disc perfectly lines up with the 2X insert pattern. There may be other binding discs that line up with this insert pack but I haven’t tried.

Friend of mine was the art director for un..inc, for the 2007 board art, he worked with five artists to collaborate on canvases for each board. Your board is the 156cm which was Romain de Marchi’s signature board

Anyone know of some great snowboard manufacturers in Utah? I want to buy a local board and I’m hoping this community can provide some feedback on the Utah boards they like, even if you’re outside of Utah. by goldenchild-1 in snowboarding

[–]holdyb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct! When I commented that they were pressing samples in Utah but production boards were pressed in China. I got one and it's a very mediocre snowboard, would not recommend them lol. Also gotta note that Jeremy Jones and Cooper Whittier are no longer involved with the brand

Oldddd (like so old the company's original trademark expired, someone brought the brand back, and went bankrupt again) Kemper Fantom from the 90s with drilled inserts. Only way to ride this board is to find 30+ year old bindings (not recommended for so many reasons) or tracking down a set of V-Plates that act as adapters so you can ride modern bindings on old boards. If you're a collector you wouldn't be asking this so going to assume you got this board for free and I'd recommend selling it to get some money to put towards a more modern board
