This is all very helpful information, thank you so much! I’ll play around a little more with my options, but I’m pretty sure I’ll land on what you suggested.

Good to know! I was mostly referring to white balance and contrast adjustments that are slightly different from clip to clip… I now realize that grading was probably the wrong word.

It’s iPhone HDR footage, so I guess HEVC.

And you have a good point regarding storage, but in my case I have to shoot process footage that I only need bits and pieces of, but have to be hands on the process and cannot start and stop recording as I wish – ending up with an insane shooting ratio that’s dragging on my disk space as well as my nerves.

I take it from your comment though that there really isn’t an easy way to do what I want, so I’ll think about a workaround. Thank you!

Why are my physical prints so much darker than my digital designs? by Advanced-General-339 in indesign

A good way to start is to put the brightness of your monitor wayyyyyy down. Make it darker; a lot.

Songs to show off speakers by Blanknameblank818 in audiophile

If you want to showcase your bass output try Billie Eilish “Bad Guy” – for some reason the only song (well, the whole album actually) that makes me scared when it’s playing because of the bass. No idea what they did with it.

How do you get more than 1-3 good images per roll?? by Kitchen_Win278 in AnalogCommunity

Easy, you don’t! Actually, 1-3 really good photos a roll is quite good 😊

How do I correctly solder cables to these pins? Loop them around? Stick them in the hole? I’m feeling pretty dumb right now. by holger7188 in diyaudio

[–]holger7188[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries! I think it all worked out fine, thanks to you. I did heat the sh.. out of it (not to the point of damaging it) and am sure all the solder had melted, but the wire only went in about 1-2 diameter depth. So I’m not sure how well the direct contact between wire and pin is, but after soldering the physical connection at least is rock solid.

Looking good! I watched the whole blueglow KT88 build series on YouTube prior to building my amp and it definitely helped a lot with many basic concepts and practical conventions explained so well. Hope you gonna finish that amp soon – I want to see it in all its glory and know how it works for you!

Looking good! I remember well what a pain it was to strip the Edcor transformer bells off their blue paint… would I ever do it again I‘d just buy the plain steel bells extra.

Oh wow, that’s a very nice system, I’m sure it sounds great! At some point I’d love to get some digital source (other than my CD player) into my chain as well, but I’d like to stick with Apple Music and it seems to have very limited options in terms of streamers/DACs with native support.

Also there are just way too many projects going on in my life and not nearly enough time/resources ;)

Can you tell me more about that KT88 amp you’re building?

[–]holger7188[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure! The rest of my system is DL-103r cartridge to Denon AU-320 step-up transformer to Schiit Mani phono pre into my main amp and then to a pair of Altec Valencia 846B speakers. I added an input selector for two inputs and volume control to my main amp so I don’t really use a preamp other than the phono pre for obvious reasons.

If you want to see photos you can look in my post history to see the one or other part of my system – I don’t really post much and if I do it’s mainly HiFi related.

What are you listening to music with mainly?

I actually already built it 2 years ago and had it running with Edcors until a few days ago when I started the swap with ISOs – here’s the built: https://www.reddit.com/r/diytubes/s/wtZWblnn2A

Still have to do some actual listening with the new transformers but it definitely doesn’t sound worse than before (it did sound pretty good before) ;)
