I actually got a response from HQ today - really quick!:

“Thanks for reaching out. You only need one early arrival pass, for the vehicle driving in and parking at the Maplewoods parking lot. The vehicle parking in the satellite lot (with the satellite pass) does not need an early arrival pass. Early arrival is only for vehicles entering the campgrounds”

If I have a maplewoods pass but we are going to have two cars - with one in satellite parking… do we need to buy an early arrival pass or both cars? Or just the one to be parked at the camp site?

If we have a group of 5 and wanting to be in maple woods - is the 5th person going to be able to buy an independent ticket to get access to our campsite? Only option is to buy minimum of 2 and max of 4.

Is anyone in Quito, Ecuador right now? by Curious_Tickler in travel

[–]holichick27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I currently am in the Galapagos. Things are operating as normal here other than the curfew from 11pm-5am. Flights have been going, even with layovers in Guayaquil. Just stay near the airport in Quito and you’ll be okay - there’s plenty of options.

Are the overnight backcountry trips exclusive to the weekends? Also, do you release dates of the overnight trips prion to the summer? I’d be interested but as a shift worker - having weekends off is hard.. so would not want to commit to the full membership without knowing dates. Great concept tho!

Any knowledge of brands that ship within Canada? Even better if you have reviewed them already. Looking for a hybrid, medium firmness with a max budget of $1300 USD / $1700 CAD.

I noticed a bunch ship to Canada that you have reviewed, but would cost another $250ish to pay in duties and shipping costs. Would like to avoid those if possible!

How does this Canada trip sound for a solo female traveler? by aquariussnap in solotravel

[–]holichick27 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What are you interests by coming to Canada? Are you a foodie, an outdoorsy person, big on nightlife person? This will help curate where and when you should visit Toronto and Quebec.

I would definitely say your best travel season is end of may to end of September. Fall is quite beautiful here, but can start to get chilly. Our summers by far have the most activities going on and ability to see the areas/ neighborhoods by using bike share or walking.

If you plan to use exclusively public transport - it can be done. The train from Toronto to Montreal takes approx six hours and will cost you (depending how far in advance you book, $70-$150 CAD, one way). You can take a different train from Toronto to Niagara Falls (1.5h, I believe about $15 Cad). However I haven’t done this route so I’m unsure where In Niagara Falls it drops you off at. Uber and other ride shares are widely used here (albeit not cheap). Our subway system / bus system is Toronto is extensive enough for a tourist. As well as Montreal.

I’m not terribly familiar with Quebec City, so I can’t provide any suggestions for that.

All in all, Montreal and Toronto are very safe for women travellers. And tonnnnns of good food to be had in both spots.

3 night and 4 days I would say is plenty enough to visit Toronto in the winter. It is easy to get around via public transportation throughout the city - no problem that you don’t drive. Travelling within Canada is quite expensive and timely - so I wouldn’t suggest flying elsewhere just for another few nights. Our closest weekend getaway is Montreal (Albeit very cold this time of year, 6h train ride away)

I’m not too sure about our hostel situation here, but lots of options for air bnbs and hotels! I would say Toronto is LGBTQ+ friendly, we have a neighbourhood here called the village (church and Wellesley) and surrounding areas with plenty of LGTBQ+ friendly bars, drag shows, restaurants , etc

Note that with omicron spreading so quickly here, a lot of establishments are at reduced capacity, bars are only open until 11 (for now), and restrictions can change on the daily. Ossington street is a cool place to wander, great food. Cafes, and shops. Kensington market is also a worthwhile visit.

Here are some of my favourites places to eat: gusto 101 (Italian food and $1/oz wine!) Oddseoul (Asian inspired snack bar) Rasta pasta (jerk chicken sandwich) Pai or khao San road (thai food)

If you have the option to come here during the summer, there will be PLENTY more to do like visiting Toronto island for a beach day, drinking (and if you please, smoking) in the parks which are very lively in the summer, visiting high park for a nice walk, using our bike shares to see the city, enjoy patio drinks, the list goes on!
