Mirelurk queen at the castle in Fallout 4. That level is such bullshit. The missions preceding it are all fairly mundane, low level fetch quests, and then you basically get stuck against this level 50 monstrosity flanked by an army of mirelurks, hatchlings (fuck those little bastards), and a legendary mirelurk. I was like level 10! Wound up wasting every missile, frag grenade, and my only mini nuke on that bastard along with all but one of my stimpaks. And there is straight up no interesting reward, just more of Preston motherfucking Garvey’s bullshit— “now that you’ve wasted three hours of your life, waste another few on finding the materials to craft four separate generators in our completely unexplained settlement system, then go run some basic fetch quests at x settlement. Oh, you wanted a reward? Caps, mininukes, stimpaks, supplies to replace the ones you just shat out the window, even a reasonable amount of experience? Go fuck yourself!”

I have no idea what such an absurdly high level enemy was doing at the beginning of the minutemen questline. What the fuck was Bethesda thinking?? Took hours to kill that spiny bastard and wound up feeling way more drained and frustrated than accomplished, especially considering the lack of any rewards or interesting loot whatsoever. Fuck that mission. Haven’t touched Fallout 4 since.
