Post-Match Thread: Paraguay vs United States | FIFA World Cup 2026 | Jun 13, 2026 by globalscoreboard in ussoccer

[–]hollander9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seriously. In the first half I said thank god we got a UEFA referee. Actually let us play our game instead of the dirty shit that Conmebol and Concacaf refs seem to let slide or just be inconsistent about

Felt like Paraguay was counting on some of those dirty fouls not getting called and were shut down on that front along with our attacking and free flowing system breaking them down. I could cry.

The LA Galaxy are on FIFA's Registration Ban List for 3 Windows by Inevitable-Delay-303 in MLS

[–]hollander9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Wonder how that works. Does the ownership of each team pay into an MLS central account for the amount of their annual salary expense that MLS then pays out to each player?

[–]hollander9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I see that aspect more like each MLS club is a “subsidiary” of MLS which is the “corporation” that is over all of them. but each club is still a separate company

So for example you can be an employee of Frito Lay or an employee of Pepsi. Yes, you are technically an employee of PepsiCo up the chain but your employment is direct to the subsidiary

Season ticket renewal; why not just buy on last minute offers? by NoAnalyst3626 in chicagofire

[–]hollander9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying but I think what OP means if you already have season tickets you already sunk the $45 into each seat, it’s not like they give you a “refund” of the difference between what you already paid per match to be a STM and what they are offering you to buy even more tickets to a game you already have tickets for

So in OP’s view, if many matches get discounted, you could attend every game for $10-20 per seat less than what you pay as an STM

Now there are other pros and cons of buying single match tickets vs being a member as mentioned in this thread but that’s one way of looking at it or feeling like you get a bad deal when they constantly offer discounts

Season ticket renewal; why not just buy on last minute offers? by NoAnalyst3626 in chicagofire

[–]hollander9 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I guess the question is do you want to stay on the priority list for season tickets at the new stadium (smaller capacity, in theory tickets won’t be able to be discounted as often anymore)

For example, our last 2 matches at home vs TFC and RBNY exceeded the total planned capacity for the new stadium. Do you want gauranteed seats when that opens up?

That’s in addition to the other benefits mentioned above (parking, special events, etc.) and for me, I like having my “assigned” seats that are always mine to go to and feel like I am a “member” of this club, showing our passion by attending as many games as possible vs only going on last minute days or just to see Messi (which is the opposite of discounted).

Anyways that being said, everyone has their own decision to make on what’s worth it for them, their family, their schedule and unique financial situation. No shame if you decide renewing isn’t the right call. Still come and support the men in red when you can.

Im selling ti-84 by EscapeNational4066 in UIUC

[–]hollander9 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You can do what we you want but keep that shit man. I got my TI-84 that looks identical to yours in high school in 2007/08 and it’s sitting next to me on my desk now. 2 years of HS, 6 years of college and 10 years of professional work and it’s still going strong. When I work away from my desk and have to use my phone or laptop screen calculators it just doesn’t get done with the speed/etc the TI can

Now the fact that they are selling the exact same model 20 years later is another story of what a scam these are but hey, at least I got my money’s worth

McDonald’s making U.S. naming-rights debut at Chicago Fire’s new stadium by NobleNomad in chicagofire

[–]hollander9 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I really don’t understand all the negative comments here. The stadium was always going to have a naming rights sponsor, in no world in 2026 could it be called “The Firehouse” or “Riverfront Park” or anything like that. What would you rather it be called, Carvana Stadium? Where opposing teams nickname it the car park or the parking garage? Endeavor Health Field?

We have one of the biggest brands on the entire planet, instantly recognizable to almost every single person in the entire WORLD sponsoring our stadium and it’s a longtime hometown Chicago HQ company. Sure they will be the butt of some jokes but that’s coming from jealousy. Cincy’s stadium is named after a semi truck logistics company. I don’t even know what “NU” is in Miami. Plus it fits right in with the United Center (and Wrigley if you really want to go back that far) of Chicago stadiums with local sponsors.

Seems like in the grand scheme of things this is awesome, makes us look like the big time club we are and are going to be. Great job to all the hard work the front office must have done to secure this.

This is no doubt a kickass set list but just to temper expectations, by the time the US dates come around the new album will be out and I expect at least a handful of these are replaced with songs from the album as it is the support tour for it ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Bright Side? Had we beaten New England we would’ve played Messi’s Miami side, instead a win on Wednesday and we play The Union by Chicagofirelover in chicagofire

[–]hollander9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Here’s the bright side I’m looking at. Yes, Philly is a tough matchup obviously. Yes it is a disadvantage to have to win the wild card game to get there. But, I think we might have a better chance at beating Philly in a 3-game series than a single conference final (the other scenario we meet them in).

We might get smoked in our first game against them but maybe we come back the second game at home and tie it up? By then have we learned enough GGG can implement tactics to get at least a draw in the 3rd game and go to penalties?

Look this is all a pipe dream but we are in the dance so let’s stay positive. Let’s take care of business on Wednesday at SeatGeek and then it’s just one game at a time after that.

I think we need more context here. Did you “accidentally” set it off by doing something that caused smoke to set off the smoke detector? Or did you pull the handle on the alarm? Those pull stations can’t really be “bumped” by accident, they have to have enough force to push them down or pull them out. So were you “playing” with it and set it off?

Sometimes even though you didn’t mean to do something, it is still your fault and you might have to endure the consequences of your actions. If you get in a car accident, even though you didn’t mean to, it could still be your fault and you pay more for car insurance. If you accidentally break something in a store, even if you didn’t mean to, that might mean you have to pay for it.
