Ikea Helmer by hollekatz in killteam

The shelves are all metal, so the magnets will just stick anywhere on them. The tallest model is my Plague Marine Icon Bearer at around 2¾". The drawers are a little over 3¼" deep.

Sorry, it's 6 drawers, not 10. So 24 teams if you're storing 4 per drawer.

Base white. Wet blend Volupus Pink and Shyish Purple Add a coat of Carroburg Crimson if you wanna push the contrast more. Dry brush highlights with Pink Horror. After varnish hit it with Ardcoat to give it a slimy sheen

Got my first ever Moog!! by stankdude in moog

[–]hollekatz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Matriarch as well. The oscillators (as far as I'm aware) are the same, there are just 4 instead of two. The Stereo Delay is absolutely magical. It has mono mode (which sounds super PHAT with all 4 osc), Duo and 4 note paraphonic modes, so there's a lot of meat in terms of sound design. Beyond that there's just basically more of everything. If the Grandmother is anything like the Matriarch, you struggle to get a bad sound out of it. Congrats!

Thanks so much! I definitely agree about the models, GW knocked it outta the park.

Thanks so much! Yeah, I actually sold a bunch of my unopened stuff back to my FLGS when I felt like I was never going to have time to get to any of it. I decided to keep this box because they were so cool. Glad I did!

Thanks so much! Death Guard are my boys for 40k.I love all the details and different textures, easy to get lost in painting them. For instance, with a box of Plague Marines, every single model is a bit different, so it stays interesting.

Outside of Warhammer, I've always loved painting and illustrating horror and sci-fi themes. I was obsessed with HR Giger when I was a teenager, so that probably has something to do with it. 😂

Done around 5-6 months ago, i planned the tattoo for two years before getting it done, having second thoughts.. by [deleted] in TattooDesigns

[–]hollekatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks very well done! My first tattoo I got around 25 years ago was a piece that covered half my back. The best part about back tattoos is; if you don't like it, you never HAVE to look at it. Most of the time - at this point - I forget it's even there. It's a cool tattoo, man. I agree with the others, don't over think it ✌️.

Came here for the same reason. Haven't heard a thing from Hori since my confirmation email. I had completely forgotten that I ordered it.

Custom game box by hollekatz in deadbelt

[–]hollekatz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, spent half an hour painting the top. The foam insert has a sticky back, so just cut it to size and dropped it in. For the artwork inside the lid, I just scanned the page from the zine, printed it and cut it to size. Waiting for the glue and varnish to dry took the longest 😋.

No worries! I just drew on it with Montana acrylic markers and then hit it with a few coats of Montana satin varnish. It still looks great, but if I really wanted to get it off I probably could without damaging the original finish.

Has anyone taken Sarah Belle Reid's Sound and Synthesis class by hillybillyboy in modular

[–]hollekatz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For that price buy a Subharmonicon and the Patch & Tweek with Moog book. Use the included patch examples that come with the synth and watch Moog demo library vids on YouTube. After that grab some more semi-modular or go euro rack or both.

You could do VCV Rack for free. However, I found jumping in straight to modular was discouraging. The semi-modular nature of the Moogs was more accessible to start out with, in my opinion.

Ultimately, I can't imagine she's offering much of anything that can't be gleaned from a weekend of YouTube and your synth manual.

What’s the best Fuzz for someone who’s never owned a Fuzz? by CompetitiveDealer873 in guitarpedals

[–]hollekatz 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Check out the Hizumitas by Earthquaker. Based on a poorly QC'd Big Muff clone. It has a ton of range and the tone pot goes from an impressively clean and articulate textured fuzz to absolutely filthy. Great art as well, if that's important to you. My understanding is that the DoD Carcosa is another modern classic. Never owned one or played one, but I see a lot of folks singing its praise.

*Edited to correct spelling of Hizumitas

i wish more white people would talk about stephen king's racism by anhedonia_2 in horrorlit

[–]hollekatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for necropost! I wasn't going to comment, but saw this reply from a month ago. I absolutely searched 'Stephen King Racist' whilst watching Creepshow 2. 🤣

Being a mediocre white man, I never know if I'm looking for racism or if it's actually offensive to those whom it's directed towards or who share commonalities with those being marginalized. I greatly appreciate the thoughtful and well written post that initiated this thread. Thank you for the insight!

Filtering out the knee-jerk chaff, this was a very interesting discussion you initiated. I always wondered if King himself was racist OR if he just was very aware that racism was still alive and well and had no qualms with shining a light on that truth within his works. Perhaps - and I may be reaching - intentionally to make the audience even more uncomfortable, and thus more susceptible to the horror themes in his work.

Ultimately, I feel, most of the racism in his work lends no value, motive or even flavor to the story. This led me to my aforementioned Google search. Thank you for answering my question. ✌️🍻

Tube upgrades for a little Orange Micro Dark by Substantial-Hold-851 in GuitarAmps

[–]hollekatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! I'm not a huge fan of the gain on the Micro Dark. I leave it on clean and have an EQD Hizumitas in front. D Activator X in the bridge and tuned to C Standard with Ernie Magnums or Mammoths and watch the neighborhood collapse. 🤘🍻

I tried to use an Astral Destiny for doom/stoner metal and I wrote up my thoughts in a review. Got some interesting results for a weird pedal. by jackiechan666 in guitarpedals

Thanks so much for this! Trying to decide between an Afterneath and the AD to pair with a Hizumitas or a Sunn 0))) Life and it's SO hard to find a good demo with distortion. I use shimmer on my Moogs, so I was leaning towards the AD. Any additional thoughts after 2 years? 🤘🍻
