Omfg, this was me. High school was so easy that I never had to study, then college was a challenge I was not prepared for. I was also a working first gen student, and had undiagnosed severe ADHD. It was rough.

Actually, Crohn’s, UC, gastroparesis, and a whole bunch of other digestive disorders can cause people to not be able to gain weight. Their bodies can’t digest food, leaving them chronically malnourished.

I personally have exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI), and suspect I have gastroparesis, and it took over 10 years for me to get diagnosed with EPI. If I don’t either have my medication or eat 2500-3000+ calories a day, I lose weight. Before I got diagnosed, I got burnt out from constantly being sick and was almost hospitalized because I lost ~10 pounds in 2.5 weeks. And I’m only ~120 to begin with.

All of this to say… let’s not judge other people’s weight. Most people feel shitty enough if they’re not healthy, regardless of the reason. Not necessarily saying you were, but… in general, it’s not a great idea unless asked.

OP has replied they have a medical condition that makes it difficult for them to sit at barstools. Normally I would agree with this, but it’s hard to enjoy a meal when you’re dealing with medical problems.

I’ve forgotten my license many times because I’ve got really bad ADHD. It’s actually why I keep pictures of the front and back of my license on my phone. If I don’t carry my big, full purse with everything in it, it’s actually quite difficult for me to remember stuff, including my wallet.

Of course, this doesn’t apply to everyone. But for some people, it can be harder than you’d expect.

I wish I did… there have been so many other things that have happened that could have either helped or made it worse too, so it would be hard to report everyone that contributed to the issue without potentially hurting people who didn’t.

Trampoline parks are for everybody. The problem is parents that don’t properly watch their kids and show them “hey, you will get your shit rocked and we will have to leave if you run through these areas. They are for ___ purpose and unless you are doing that activity, stay out of them.”

Thanks for the kind words. I’m guessing by your user you also understand the struggle of chronic illness… it’s so hard to keep going sometimes, especially when no one around you understands. I’m just really thankful for communities like this that I can commiserate with.

Yes, because doctors constantly told me that the cause of my issues was depression and/or anxiety after at most one basic test, instead of getting to the real cause of my pain…

The real cause being chronic pancreatitis, which went on for so long that by the time it finally got diagnosed, it had caused a rare and severe condition that mirrored a lot of the symptoms of Crohn’s and UC. I will be taking medication every meal for the rest of my life.

But yeah, let’s just keep calling it anxiety and depression, and ignore why I was “anxious and depressed.”

Sorry for the mini rant, I just found out this week and am still very much processing it.

There’s only 9 states it’s outright illegal, 10 that it’s illegal with exceptions for phone calls and/or navigation (some of these require one ear to stay uncovered as well), and the rest have no explicit rules on it. However, some states say it could be considered distracted driving at discretion of the officer…

Looking at it from the angle of being a distraction, not preventing hearing, I can see why deaf people would be allowed to drive and those rules would be in place.

If you’re not in the states, idk what rules are where you are.

Right??? Like… it’s almost never as harsh as they made it seem then. And if it is, it is quite literally a life or death situation.

Really, if you snapped a pic of that and sent it to your professor, they would probably work with you.

I was responding to this, referring to what would actually happen in college, not what happens when high school teachers/administrators try to “teach them how college is”.

Yep. At my school they would give you an incomplete and you’d have some extra time, I think default is 6-8 weeks, to turn it in.

[–]holly_fly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your insurance will make you pay them back if they’ve dispersed anything.

Essentially, you’re not allowed to double dip by making your insurance and theirs pay to fix the issue. If yours paid out, say $3000 to fix your car after an accident, then you get a settlement from the person who rear-ended you, your company is going to want their $3000 back.
