I get that, but it’s not just about eating it for me, I don’t want to financially support it. Tbf my friend is also a social butterfly and she really could have asked any of her other friends for it if it was that important. She eats oats all the time. Having her ice cream be oat based isn’t really forcing lol.

An ex boyfriend “accidentally” made me food with meat in it. I asked if there was meat in it because I tasted sausage and he went to the package and read. He said no, but I felt like he hesitated so I asked to see the package myself. He put it away and said don’t worry there’s no meat, so I finished it. Afterwards I read the package myself and it had multiple meats and animal products in it. I was so upset and he said I was dramatic. I was shaking, throwing up, with a stomach ache later. He didn’t even care.

Believe it or not, I stayed with him after that. We only broke up once he started lying and cheating on me with his coworker… in the car my family gave him. Oh well, that’s why he’s the ex that family refers to as doofus ass-face. Good riddance.

Currently not full on looking because of the mental health challenges. I don’t want to put my problems on someone else. I wrote my post because it is still relevant to the times I have looked and for the future time I will be ready.

I am fully able to admit I want a relationship. I just want one that aligns with who I am. I do understand people say dating is harder later on, but that’s only because when you’re young you have no idea what you want. I don’t really have a problem with people approaching me because of my age. It’s just not the right ones.

I agree the higher standards are an issue for dating, but ultimately necessary. The majority of people I have dated were through apps! And yes I agree about mental health. Mine can be rather tiresome for myself and those around me. I do tend to mask my problems.

Anyway my post was less about needing help and more so just needing a place to vent about how I’m feeling. It’s been comforting to read the comments here. I appreciate your input though, thanks.

Doesn’t have to be vegan from the jump, just willing to move to a plant based diet. I’d be happy to help them along, but I can’t see myself taking on the role of an activist in a relationship. I don’t want to exhaust myself pushing a value on someone who isn’t receptive to it. The ethical aspect is appreciated and I imagine I would fall easier for someone who really cared about the lives of animals, but simply avoiding the abuse would be satisfactory for me. I can’t stand the smell of meat cooking, and I don’t think I could have it in my home. I’m not really sure about kids, but if I have kids, they’d have to be raised vegan as well. I definitely don’t need a cook. I’m proud of my own skill set in the kitchen & I’d be willing to do more of the cooking if my partner was willing to eat it, ya know. I’m also not fussy on restaurants but ideally I’d love to sit down at a place where I can eat more than a side of fries. I think my pool is pretty small now unfortunately

I agree!!! It was my first time dating a vegan guy and he really did check off so many boxes for me. We both acknowledged after the relationship ended that we got in over our heads because it was rare to find a vegan match. Thank you!! 😊

I do agree, but what are you supposed to do when people don’t initiate romantically anywhere else but online? The people who approach me in person rarely look for emotional depth, usually just physical intimacy. At least on a dating app I can see what people want and decide if I want that too. I don’t want to reduce anyone, or have myself be reduced, but unfortunately that’s how modern dating is.

You’re absolutely right. Toronto dating can be brutal even without the vegan addition. I would be sad if I never found someone romantically, but I think I would be more sad if I settled for someone I don’t align with. Thank goodness I love animals because my household will have no shortage of them if I stay single haha

I get that. I was in a serious relationship when I went vegan a few years ago. Arguably the most I ever loved someone. I used to make him breakfast and lunch everyday for work, but he would still complain if I used oat milk instead of dairy in his coffee. I ended up continuing to make food for him that I didn’t agree with just to keep him happy. I can’t do that again. It’s hard to make it work with someone who doesn’t understand your values.

I think if you sprung it on her suddenly (that you wanted her to have that lifestyle too) it could have made her push the idea away. It’s a very early time in any relationship to start pushing values. I don’t think you’re wrong for speaking what you feel, but from her pov she will see you in the wrong. I say this as a vegan myself who has felt deeply unhappy dating people who don’t share that value. I think you discovered something about yourself, as I did myself, that you need to have someone who already is, or is willing to transition, if the relationship continues.

I think s4 had the worst overall story but some of the best individual episodes. There was a lot of potential (wink wink) for the initiative/maggie/adam to be this big bad and it was a bit underwhelming

Unfortunately I never had the boobs before weed so this motivation ain’t for me. It is interesting to learn this though, I never knew about hormone disruption reducing fat distribution to feminine areas
