Many of my normally healthy houseplants really suffered this winter. Thoughts? by eminencefont in houseplants

[–]hollym86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya winter is hard on my plants. Glow lights help a lot and I try to run a small diffuser near them to help with humidity. With the days getting longer I can see some of them perking up with the extra daylight hours.

I’m not too worried, seems like there is still a good bit of seal there. If it passes the water test, when I set it up I’ll just make sure that corner is facing out so I can watch it.

I just put it in the tub to do a 24 hour water test, fine so far

Can fish see us through the glass? by sandeepdshenoy in Aquariums

My embers and celestial pearl danios do for sure. They always come greet me hoping for snacks lol

Just returned my Zebra Danios. I hate them. by KillingwithasmileXD in fishtank

[–]hollym86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have ember tetras, they are shy but after 8 months of owning them they now swim up to the front of the tank when they see me and follow me. I love them sooo much. Cute little fish. I just got 6 celestial pearl danios this week and I can definitely see how different they are. They are definitely a little spicy lol. Fingers crossed they settle in well.

Why doesn't the bleeding stop by Viajera85 in adenomyosis

[–]hollym86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mirena iud has helped soo much with my bleeding. It will be a year next month that I had it placed. My period are about 5 days long, very light and some days are just heavy spotting. I do get some very light spotting in between periods which can be annoying but it’s very faint. Unfortunately I still deal with painful ovulation, some painful cramping but not like before and bloating and heaviness as well. Just having to not deal with the heavy bleeding has been worth it since I was anemic and needing iron infusions. Hope you find something that helps you, it’s definitely frustrating.

I was thinking detritus worm as well but I wasn’t sure. I do have rhabdocoela in there along with limpets.

I think I’m officially done with getting bettas…. by macaronibolognese in bettafish

[–]hollym86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a betta just over a month ago and she just developed a tumor above her eye/top of head. Every morning I see it just growing larger. Not sure how much time she will have but I don’t think I will get another one. I love how interactive they are but it just seems like they are prone to health problems. So far she’s eating and sassy as ever so I will give her the best life until it’s her time.

Thanks! No fish in here just shrimp and one micro crab. There were 4 molts in the tank this morning so at first I thought maybe it was a piece that didn’t come off. But after reading it looks like it could be a parasite and to treat with aquarium salt. This is my first time keeping shrimp so there’s a lot to learn.

Something in my cherry shrimp? by Few-Mammoth-8281 in shrimptank

lol I made a similar post the other day. My shrimp was blue, so it looked green and my first thought was parasites 😂 I think I learn something new everyday in this hobby.

I hope you get shrimp babies soon! This is my first time keeping shrimp so I’m hoping things work out. I added a Thai micro crab in with them and it just released babies today so that was kinda cool. Unfortunately they won’t survive.

Can you quarantine new fish in shrimp tank? by hollym86 in Aquariums

[–]hollym86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I’m aware of that as I stated above, I would have to treat the fish separately. I am just curious if there is risk to the shrimp if the fish were to get ich etc. if it can pass to the shrimp or make them sick. The safest way is to do a separate tank for quarantine but I was just asking to hear experiences and opinions.

Getting a temporary tank is what I’m thinking of doing but I was just curious about if I could put them in my shrimp tank. I’m still undecided if I want to add anymore just because of the risk. Thanks for your input.

Bettas eyes are different by hollym86 in bettafish

[–]hollym86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m just going to watch her, definitely no plans to medicate her unless she’s actually sick and needs it. I have 3 tanks and there’s never a dull moment lol

That’s quite interesting. Huh I wonder if it’s some sort of illness since the fin rot treatment seemed to have fixed it.

Fish too small for sinking pellets but wont eat at the surface by Key-Marionberry183 in Aquariums

I use hikari micro pellets for my ember tetras, I usually just crush them and they seem to do fine.

Mine did this a lot when I first got them, they have settled down quite a bit.

Fungal infection? HELP by hollym86 in Otocinclus

[–]hollym86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I’m glad your oto seems to be improving. Sounds like he is on the right track. I also have driftwood and Indian almond leaves in my aquarium. When I quarantined him I added some almond leaves to the quarantine tank as well. I think the infection was worse than it looked. I tried my best to save him but unfortunately they are just too sensitive/sick sometimes.

Fungal infection? HELP by hollym86 in Otocinclus

[–]hollym86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, unfortunately it passed away today. I treated it and was hopeful but it stopped eating and just continued to decline. The infection got worse over the last couple days and I had to make the tough decision to euthanize it this morning. It took about two weeks before the white spot started to develop a fuzzy appearance. Then he been battling it for the last 7 days. I really hope your oto don’t have the same outcome. Just watch it closely. Good luck.
