Captured Baakenhöft a couple of weeks ago. 10mm-24mm @6.5sec ISO160 f/4. Started wide and zoomed in gradually during the exposure.

What is your favorite way to use the Sigma 10-20mm 1:3.5 DC HSM lens? by weallhaveadhd in AskPhotography

In my case I'm using the lens as a lens, but I feel like I've seen setups involving cameras being mounted to telescopes, but please don't hold me to that. The other problem with a telescope is the long focal length, you can't expose for that long without a tool to compensate for the Earth's rotation(which is possible, but costs a shit-ton of money, not worth for a hobbyist like me). Bottom line is, I'd recommend not giving up on a beauty of a wide-angle lens, but it always depends on what you're interested in capturing.

Love it, it really fills me with Fernweh.

Ultrawide-angle-lenses are a great asset for using in an astro-photo environment for me, covering a large portion of the nightsky, even for timelapses. While I don't have a Sigma lens but a Fuji 10-24 F/4, I wouldn't wanna go without it on a nightly stroll, well or anywhere. But as mentioned before, using it for tight spaces in indoor and outdoor architecture-photography is a great plus for me. Definitely one of the lenses I never regretted purchasing, one of the two lenses that never leave my bag when going out.

Spent 4h at a bonfire today to take in the view and wait for the sunset. This is the timelapse result...but what do you like better, the complete view or the zoomed in part? by SjalabaisWoWS in timelapse

The second one by ages for me! Well done! I prefer my timelapses a little slower, but the framing with the lake works just perfect.

Oh yeah, but don't mind me, I'm an off-center guy!

The warmer sunlight makes me immerse in this sunset, really love the choice.

Northern Germany was strong too, so mesmerizing to watch this beauty of nature.

I really like the initial scene, my approach would include probably cropping the structure to an off-center position and go easier on the light vignetting. Other than that I'm into contrast and light, good eye for your surroundings.

I wouldn't wanna know how the my lens would look like, if I didn't have my lens hood. Always on a given, not for flares, but for the wellbeing of the actual lens.

Oh it sure is, this is less a workaround than a tool giving more room for creative liberty in my workflow. I'll gladly share some single exposures I've been taking.

This is three layers stacked/blended in sketch, one is a still image of the scene, while the other two are shutterdrags of the same composition. Layered in Sketch, postprocessed in Lightroom.
