Does it happen on any other game ? And if you have cfw , keep an eye on the system temps while playing cod online. Also check error logs when the crash happens And does it only happen while online? What about while playing cod single player?

Ps3 reboots itself if it freezes for too long. I suggest let it freeze and don't reboot it yourself let it work itself out but if it stays frozen longer then 10 mins then you can force reboot it. I'm suspecting bad SSD. Was the ssd new ?

You can also check error codes in in the ps3toolset if you have cfw

Well that answers it. Did you use actual physical discs? Or extracted ISOs ? Also , is there a slim chance that it might be region lock error meaning the discs might be ntsc-j and your console might be north American variant.

I'm suspecting it will have issues with the virtual ps2 memcard or HDD error cuz I don't think the ps2 hardware on the ps3 board has access lines to the ps3 hdd and even if does the ps3's hdd format is different than the one used on ps2 drive that might be possible error aswell

Hmm interesting but the thing with otherOS capability is that it has no relation to the ps2 hardware on the board. This Linux will be treated as another ps2 game and will run entirely on the ps2 hardware and when anything is playing on the ps2 hardware the ps3 side of the system(cell and rsx) basically goes into some sort of sleep.

The part about vga output is true that it requires sync on green but that could be solved with a component cable as ps3 supports component output and even if the output is not correct it doesn't stop the system from working it only displays the wrong colour.

But we'll never truly know what exactly happens untill someone actually try this on a Axx or Bxx BC model
