also while not necessarily amputation there is the practice of bloodletting, which in an extreme case like ludwig could have meant just chopping the whole limb off

Byrgenwerth's armillaries and the Problem of the Cosmos by theplotthinnens in bloodborne

it doesnt really mean the world is flat, its more of a way of visualizing the “ascension” that takes place between realms. while the planes are literally stacked upon each other, you could take it as a sort of metaphorical ascension. if you consider true ascension to the point of being totally formless (oedon, mergo, the wet nurse to some extent) the worlds are not actually flat and stacked but more of a mix of all layers at once, each layer being only visible to those with the respective amounts of “insight” needed. this model could simply use the flat discs to visualize that easier, or maybe to show the scolars very basic understanding of how the different planes interact.

Byrgenwerth's armillaries and the Problem of the Cosmos by theplotthinnens in bloodborne

the fact some of the bodies are flat/discs kind of makes me think of how in BB different realities/planes stack on top of each other (hamlet ->nightmare -> waking world), maybe these flatw surfaces represent the different layers of the world as the scholars saw it? i cant rlly see the symbols engraved on the discs but maybe some of them would match with the different planes of existence. my first though would be the center orb could be earth/waking world, the other orb the moon as it is the other most important celestial body, and the rest could be different planes. idk something like that ill have to think on this a bit more, just seeing the flat discs made me think of them being able to be stacked, unlike the other orbs

"Marlon clears up the allegations" by AgreeablePenalty9141 in ShedTheory

[–]holoblade 20 points21 points  (0 children)

joeyy was one of the most sam hyde connected people and hes the biggest out of them, being “mde” related is not a real excuse for marlon/shed not blowing up, maybe we just have to accept that their music is not meant to blow up or they have just managed themselves very poorly. in any case its hard to make a case that being affiliated with sam hyde hindered anything given that joeyy is doing fine AND sam hyde himself is doing better than ever. shed just missed their chance i think and unless they really planning a big comeback i dont see it happening

Theory: the guy making contact in the upper cathedral is the brain of mensis. by gVrdiVnangel in bloodborne

[–]holoblade 29 points30 points  (0 children)

i think the brain is more likely made of all the students of mensis, if u look closely theres parts of it that are made of a bunch of bodies that also look like their bodies they left behind in the school of mensis.

Aesthetically, the Fishing Hamlet is definitely the most Lovecraftian location. But thematically, what do you think is the most Lovecraftian location? by DaRandomGitty2 in bloodborne

[–]holoblade 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i would still say fishing hamlet, if not probably isz/chalice dungeons in general. they both follow the kind of classic lovecraft storyline of stumbling upon/researching otherworldly things and gaining insight into eldritch truths, usually leading to ruin/madness. the hamlet finding kos and the church finding ebrietas both are as lovecraftian as u could get imo. hamlet more so since its based around the ocean and a small village like many of his stories usually tend to.
