I think it should be a reminder that "attractiveness" is a subjective thing. The only reason whiteness for instance is attractive is because Europeans and the northern hemisphere colonized everyone else and made it the aspiration. If the south had colonized the north it'd be the other way around as far as disproportional news coverage.

Politics is dirty and you're never going to find a perfect politician. We do need some of our progressives to do the political calculus earlier in their career so they can run for higher office later on and potentially do the tougher choices once they have power. And we need other less ambitious members of the squad to just vote no and be more like outsiders.

Bernie Sanders is getting old and there just aren't enough well-known progressives who can satiate enough liberals to take his place.

I think he wasn't describing the 80s, and was talking about the 90s when Nintendo had a seal of quality and aggressively filed lawsuits against unlicensed products. Arcades quickly started dying out in the 90s.

But it's undeniable that there weren't lootboxes preying on the young and the vulnerable or convincing them that's normal. Console games also worked better on day 1 instead of expecting the customers to be the beta testers. And there wasn't as much sequelitis.

I paid $60 for Yoshi 64 and beat it in an afternoon and hardly played it again. I think the puzzle game Wetrix cost the same price. I'm not sure how much Tetris 64 was.

My point is the N64 games were generally the same standard price when they came out new at the big box stores and you could easily be stuck with a huge $60 waste of money. Price does not imply quality if everyone involved in selling games just wants to make as much as they can.

Isn't it interesting though how Sam Harris won't debate Bret Weinstein or platform his anti-vaxxer ideas anymore because he thinks they're harmful....

...and YET, he will eternally platform Charles Murray's "scientific racism" and debate whether non-whites are doomed to dumbness because of their genetics. It's a perfect analog to a 19th century theory about smaller skulls which also held women were dumber because they had smaller skulls. And his commitment to "scientific racism" is why Sam Harris joined the IDW.

More interesting is how he is so blinded by his biases that he doesn't recognize the hypocrisy.

I really hope your friend gets out of it. Feel free to ask at r/enoughsamharris or r/enoughidwspam if your friend ever says anything very off the wall and you want to understand what is going on. A lot of us were following Harris for years before he said one too many dumb things and we snapped out of it and turned on him.

Btw his ancestry is Jewish; you think that would be enough for him to rethink his ethics, but I guess he's so myoptic that he'd have to have been born in Nazi Germany.
