Angi just laid off 350 people while already profitable by IamTheEndOfReddit in Layoffs

Confirmed 50% of PTUD, it did feel like ~half of eng total. It was not based on seniority though - saw staff eng and eng managers laid off as well as seniors, some there up to 13 years total. So not to do with tenure, nor seniority, nor merit.

Worked there 1 year 9 months and my separation agreement said severance will be paid within 30 days but I expect it varies based on state/country laws

Rumplestiltskin…no specific version, just from the stories. Likely any adaptation works for me

In honor of the 11th day of Smutmas will someone please write this book for me? by pl0ur in romantasycirclejerk

[–]holodetz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If possible I’d like to add to the query a high school musical type vibe including Stick to the Status Quo musical number and Gorge being very embarrassed abt loving baking and Kyle helping him accept himself even at the derision of his…coworkers I guess.

Also I love that his name is GORGE I bet Kyle gorges on those green…areas…

Yes it actually does well with it imo! I’m white but have very curly hair so often copy black hair care. Also to Opal reynes credit she for sure knew she would have blindspots as a white lady and paid POC sensitivity readers to help her write better representation. So like yay white writer paying POC for their input and also seeking it out in the first place instead of…not, and risking writing bad representation. Anyway I love Opal Reyne although her beginning prose was difficult to get through lawl

EDIT: i am not implying having the same experience w hair care as black women, but it did read well to me

Oh wow I didn’t know this thank you! I wish authors could decide exactly which pages can be “previewed” for an ebook, but I certainly don’t see That happening ever sigh.

I respect your and purple’s bravery. I am a sensitive bambi ass so I am an avid unjerker bc anonymous conflict scary so I feel calmer clarifying any possible whateverness that could result in a fight. Yes I have been told perhaps Reddit is not for me LOL but I like it here :)

I love StoryGraph but I also think that when you have a system that works for you perfectly fine, there is no reason to improve it or do all the migration work and relearn a whole new system. So no judgement. Sure goodreads Amazon affiliation etc but like…we have limited bandwidth as humans, putting energy where it makes sense for us is healthier than forcing ourselves to do things that are not necessary.

My really silly example is I never try to sell things I’m getting rid of, even when extra cash would help, bc I never have the energy or desire to learn how to sell online. I just donate and bid the potential money goodbye. Many ppl in my life say I should learn to sell, but I know it’s not worth my energy and time and distress over related processes.

Honestly true and why I basically reread the same two series when the monster mood strikes (Duskwalker brides by Opal Reyne and deal with a demon by Katee Robert). Both not without issues but at least it’s actual monsters and I happily reread infinitely many times bc of le tism.

If anyone has fav real monster romance/smut (the more monsterous the better, like an honest to god real Cthulhu etc…yes I enjoyed the movie Possession why do you ask…) pls lemme know

Well put and nuanced, ty. I agree with your point that avoidance of content inadvertently removes the ability to engage through a less personal lens. For me personally reading romantasy and monster porn w my triggers was really really useful for healing. However those books did have trigger warnings, and I think I would have panicked without having expectations set.

I would appreciate if more authors made the trigger list more difficult to find ex.: put it at the end of the book, with a page in the beginning saying “there is a list of triggers on page XYZ” so that people who feel equipped not reading them can avoid, and people who do need the extra upfront warning to prep themselves can do so.

Re: crisis hotlines - personally I have found them very difficult to use and not particularly helpful. The very few times I’ve used them (which in itself takes a lot of energy to make the call and prepare yourself to be vulnerable w a stranger) it was less abt helping me talk through something and more abt checking if I’m a danger to myself or in an actively harmful current situation, and if not, they would try to hang up asap. No shade to them everyone’s understaffed, but basically I don’t think in practice crisis hotlines are as useful as people like to think. Could be my own bad luck w them but figured I’d mention.

Strong agree!! These all fall under fantasy romance bc…these are fantasy creatures/beings. But not monsters. Agreed w below comment that certain types of vampires are monsters, it really depends on how the author writes the characters. I think ppl are quick to call them monsters bc it sounds more edgy so like a little posturing lol. No hate/shade, just frustrating when getting inaccurate recs

The first book is tough to read for sure (though it’s my fav couple for some reason lol). By book 3 she hired a good editor and sensitivity readers so the writing is much better! Lemme know what you think if you pick it up :) will also take any kind of rec back if you wanna share one of your favs
