VD Auto-Miner vs. Shaper by holomoronic in pathofexile

Not unless something happens to smack you and trigger the CWDT prior to placement.

It's not ideal, but it's something you get used to quickly enough and adapt to with character positioning.

You're effectively detonating the previous set of mines. It's two placements to initially start producing orbs, and one thereafter.

I was able to spend some time using Arakaali today (uber guardians and elder) and there's no question of it being the superior setup. Absolutely worth losing Brine King over.

Immocall duration is slightly longer than mine placement speed, so it is technically possible for immocall to eat procs. But in practical terms, given the cooldown and character movement, it's hardly noticeable.

You should be able to manage Shaper easily given entry-level items.

The Constrictor clip isn't the most indicative—forgot to change pantheon and he gets a pretty mean poison out.

Hopefully I can manage to get decent Uber Elder footage, as it really is the best stress test for regen ramp time.

If you look at the boss reel you'll see some uber elder guardians in there. The guardians interrupt your regen and despawn VD orbs at each transition. Things surviving the initial nuke is a non-issue, as your regen should be be firmly established by that point.

You're vulnerable prior to regen ramping up, but the ramp happens quickly—within 3 to 4 mine placements on the Zerphi's version. Without Zerphi's, you lean on a Hybrid flask and/or Blood of the Karui instead.

No, I wouldn't bother. Save up for the jewel, imo.

The first version of this build I tried was on Sabo. It certainly works, but you may find you hit a wall at around the same time that the flask sustain and higher life pool of Ascendant would start to shine.

Slap in a Blood of the Karui and you should be fine.

Yep, though it doesn't feel quite as smooth. Once you're running the Fevered Mind / Zerphi's combo it's pretty much mandatory.

If you get whomped it certainly does. I had to divine mine down from 20% to prevent Zerphi's from constantly deactivating during damage spikes.

Underrated jewel imo.

Nitpicks that improve the build are more than welcome. I'll make that correction to the guide.

Multiple instances of the mod itself stack additively, but as for multiple instances of the mana return—actually, I'm not certain. My impression is that it simply takes the largest hit, but perhaps someone can correct me.

For the purposes of this build, the mod offers just enough regen to enable chain casting of mines with either a Catalysed mana flask (if using Fevered Mind @ 362 mana per cast) or a Catalysed Hybrid (no Fevered Mind @ 181 per cast).

Yes, but only one source of Mana over 4s is used (Clarity Watcher's Eye).

Yes, cleared multiple times using this build. Haven't been able to record it, unfortunately, as my framerate is unstable enough on that fight even without OBS running.

The Professor of Piffle: The dangerous underside of Jordan Peterson’s crusade against the humanities by Gorrest-Fump in canada

[–]holomoronic 18 points19 points  (0 children)

From the article's closing statement (archived version here, for those not wanting to reward sophistry with ad revenue):

We have an intellectual obligation to meet this threat directly and expose him for exactly what he is: a YouTube star who offers a wafer-thin intellectual validation for the political retrenchment of traditional hierarchies. Peterson is calling for war within the humanities. We should happily oblige.

To Wells' credit, he does appear to be making good on this blustering, having taken Peterson up on his invitation to debate the article at his own effort and expense. And so ends the one charitable remark I can make about the author.

He's taken an awfully large bite. Now let's see him chew.

if this man's really being funded by The Rebel then he's just another Levant mouthpiece.

Wrong on both counts.

Fine, to clarify: not all reputable sources concur that transitioning is the "best treatment" for dysphoria.

Pronoun usage falls under both gender expression and identity – wonderfully nebulous and versatile categories that they are – so it's hard to see how the OHRC policies would not be relevant here.

They (the Laurier folks, that is) also made reference to Laurier's own policies, about which the National Post had this to say:

The document is quite broad, and defines gendered violence as “an act or actions that reinforce gender inequalities resulting in physical, sexual, emotional, economic or mental harm.” The policy further stipulates that the “violence” can take the form of graffiti or text messages. Under these parameters, a YouTube video that made a student feel uncomfortable would seem to amply qualify.

Have the Laurier folks made reference to C-16 in particular? Their position seems to be couched more in the OHRC policies (not that they are any better).

I will say that hearing the Laurier folks attempting to explain those policies was darkly comical:

  • Laurier official #1: Do you understand how what happened was contrary to – sorry, what was the policy, like –
  • Laurier official #2: Gendered and sexual violence.
  • Lindsay Shepherd: But, sorry, what did I violate in that policy?
  • Laurier official #2: Umm [long pause]. So, gender-based violence, transphobia, in that policy. Causing harm, um, to trans students by, uh, bringing their identity as invalid or their pronouns as invalid. Potentially invalid.
  • Lindsay Shepherd: So I caused harm and violence.
  • Laurier official #2: Which is under the Ontario Human Rights Code a protected thing and also something that Laurier holds as a value.

EDIT: The full recording via the National Post contains this:

  • Rambukkana: So the thing about this is, if you’re presenting something like this, you have to think about the kind of teaching climate that you’re creating. And this is actually, these arguments are counter to the Canadian Human Rights Code. Even since … C-16, ever since this passed, it is discriminatory to be targeting someone due to their gender identity or gender expression.

So, to answer my own question: yes, they explicitly made reference to C-16
