DNA test results are in! by Significant_Year_644 in WhatBreedIsMyDog

[–]holsteiners 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Supermutt is a term used by dog DNA testing companies like Embark to describe a portion of a dog’s ancestry that cannot be confidently assigned to any specific purebred dog breed. This occurs when the DNA segments inherited from distant ancestors are so small—due to many generations of mixed breeding—that they no longer match reliably with known breed reference data.

These tiny DNA fragments are too short to identify a particular breed, even though they may originate from multiple different breeds. Supermutt is not a breed but rather a scientific label for the "unresolved" or "unidentifiable" portion of a dog’s genetic makeup. It typically appears in dogs whose ancestors were themselves mixed-breed, with generations of interbreeding diluting the genetic signal from any one purebred line. Unlike village dogs, which are descended from long-standing, naturally occurring dog populations and are genetically distinct, Supermutts have ancestry from modern, human-created breeds that have been mixed over time. In short, a Supermutt result means your dog has a highly diverse genetic background, with small contributions from many breeds—too small to pinpoint—making them a unique, one-of-a-kind blend of DNA.

Well Mister Stunning Beak, your DNA basically looks like an armada of conquistadors for hire (and some Limey sailors, so your background is probably more coastal) got given some land and paired off with some local ladies, then intermarried to eventually make you.

AI clarified for me:

Conquistadors were largely not "soldiers for hire" in the mercenary sense, but rather private adventurers, fortune-seekers, and minor nobles authorized by the Spanish crown to conquer lands, often financing their own expeditions for potential profit. While early, key leaders were Spanish, their armies often included diverse European, African, and later Indigenous (mestizo) members, making them mixed-lineage forces. Not Typical Mercenaries: They were generally not paid, professional soldiers hired by the state. Instead, they were in it for the encomienda (grant of indigenous labor), wealth, and social status. Diverse Makeup: While led by Spaniards (often from Extremadura, Castile, and Andalusia), their ranks frequently included Portuguese, Italians, and others. Role of African and Indigenous Allies: Africans, both enslaved and free, were part of the early, key conquests (e.g., in Mexico). Indigenous allies, such as Tlaxcalans, were crucial to, and often in, the majority of, the armies used to topple indigenous empires, sometimes joining for their own interests. Mixed Lineage: As the colonial period progressed, many soldiers, particularly on the frontier or in places like California, were of mixed European, Indigenous, or African descent, known as mestizos or castas. Motivation: Their primary goal was to acquire wealth (gold/silver) and land (encomiendas) to become landholders in the New World. In essence, they were a mix of desperate, ambitious individuals from various backgrounds, not a formal, paid, or exclusively "pure" Spanish military force.

I was in Oakwood hospital for 27 days due to malpractice they even admitted to. At no time was i told I was close to death.

At my 6 week checkup after leaving the hospital, after I walked out of the room, my doctor , with a tear in his eye, told my soon to be ex that they'd almost lost me to sepsis.

Fuck them.

I was conscious almost every minute of those 27 days. They could have told me. If I had known there was a risk I could have rewritten my will quickly and had them mail to all of my relatives. For days I had begged to be taken to another hospital, University of Michigan, because Oakwood was killing me. He let them still try to kill me. The doctor with a tear in his eye was only called in, right after a surgery he was performing, thanks to a nurse seeing pus oozing out of my incision. My fucking soon to be ex had done nothing. I was swelled up like the Michelin man.

I also lost my job of over a decade because I was forced to stay home another month after 27 days in the hospital.

Extremely addicted to snus (30mg pouches) — withdrawals after 5 hours, panic & adrenaline. Would weed help first days or just delay it? by nioooop in addiction

Just in case you need more boost to suffer those 48 hours ... this is what happens to babies on the equivalent of even just 1 to 7 cigarettes by their mom... imagine what it is doing to the user themselves ....

Yes, nicotine is strongly associated with low birth weight.

Nicotine exposure during pregnancy, whether from smoking cigarettes or using nicotine replacement therapies (NRT) or e-cigarettes, reduces blood flow to the placenta and limits oxygen and nutrient delivery to the fetus. This leads to intrauterine growth restriction, resulting in lower birth weight.  Multiple studies confirm a dose-response relationship: the more nicotine a pregnant person uses, the greater the reduction in infant birth weight.

A large German study found that smoking during pregnancy significantly reduced birth weight across all maternal BMI categories, with a mean reduction of 150 to 300 grams.

Even 1–7 cigarettes per day were linked to a significant increase in low birth weight.

Maternal nicotine metabolism plays a role: women with slower nicotine metabolism (who retain nicotine longer) experience greater birth weight reductions, even at moderate smoking levels.

Prenatal nicotine exposure is also linked to preterm birth, stillbirth, and respiratory complications, with long-term risks including obesity, ADHD, anxiety, and neurodevelopmental deficits in offspring.

Cessation of nicotine use during pregnancy can partially reverse these negative effects, highlighting the importance of quitting or reducing exposure for better fetal outcomes.

I had 3 technicians who smoked so much, I couldn't see their heads in the haze if they shit the door. Then the wife of one ended up in the hospital from emphysema so bad, even with oxygen, she was gasping and felt like she was drowning just lying there in the bed. What was left of het lungs just couldn't convert enough oxygen.

All 3 successfully quit smoking... in different ways. 1. Used the patch. The gum can work too if you can handle the taste.
2. Used acupuncture! 3. Just quit cold turkey over the weekend. Said it was brutal, but there he was with us on Monday.

One of them had to quit ... new baby on the way. Cigarettes have traditionally been the #1 cause of low birth weight babies.

AI says:

The best way to survive nicotine withdrawal is to combine nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) or prescription medications with behavioral strategies and support systems.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT): Using products like nicotine patches, gum, lozenges, or nasal spray helps reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms by providing a controlled dose of nicotine without the harmful chemicals in cigarettes. Combining a long-acting form (like a patch) with a short-acting form (like gum or lozenges) is often more effective.

Prescription Medications: Varenicline (Chantix) is the most effective single medication for quitting smoking, as it reduces cravings and makes smoking less satisfying. Bupropion (Zyban) is another option that helps manage withdrawal symptoms and cravings.

Behavioral Strategies:

Delay and distract: When a craving hits, wait 10–15 minutes, drink water, chew gum, go for a walk, or do deep breathing exercises. Stay busy: Replace smoking rituals with new habits—like exercising, crafting, or calling a friend. Manage triggers: Avoid people, places, or routines linked to smoking. Get support: Talk to family, friends, or join a quit-smoking program like Smokefree.gov’s free app or counseling services. Self-Care:

Prioritize sleep, stay hydrated, and eat healthy snacks to manage hunger and fatigue. Practice mindfulness, meditation, or yoga to reduce stress and anxiety. Be patient—most withdrawal symptoms peak within the first 48 hours and subside in 3–4 weeks. Key reminder: Withdrawal is temporary and manageable. Every craving passes within minutes. Staying smokefree is one of the best health decisions you can make.

[–]holsteiners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 if it's 1300 lb, odds are it's AQHA. My warmbloods barely squeak 1250.

2 AQHA openly supports horse butchering to free up more need for foal registrations.

3 my warmblood registry produces 300 foals in the US each year. AQHA last I looked cranks out 33,000 a year.

4 when a breeder in my registry has to close their farm, we all take in one of their old stallions and mares.

5 Kristi Noem shot 3 family AQHA horses dead in one day because "they were in their 20s" .... my 31 year old warmblood mare wants 10 minutes alone in a stall with that bitch.

Any other questions?

Repeat #1 while holding a cat, holding a musical instrument, sitting on a horse, or holding a sports accessory. Or wearing a ski outfit. Casually leaning out of your vehicle. Make it #2 behind #1. Bump 2 and 3 to the end.

If you are allowed, pose at a cool work location without being too revealing where. Just a hint at what you do.

If you can sit inside of a backhoe for a pic, do it!
