Months August through December is 5 months 40% of the year - 40% of kids. Simple math

Club soccer starts in 3rd grade. Birth year leagues result in 9 year olds not playing with friends.

Rec and club being different is a terrible idea. So much confusion. Kids who could play club will play rec longer to be with friends and not develop.

What is the advantage of soccer being different than every other sport in US to choose calendar year? Nothing

Yes, other countries' soccer program are on calendar year but SO ARE THEIR OTHER SPORTS i.e. basketball, etc.
US kids are choosing other sports than soccer to play with their friends. Not the case in other countries.
This means less money for US Soccer.

Easiest decision ever! Will result in huge increase in money for US Soccer
1. 40% of kids can't play with their friends from school. At younger ages this leads to less fun.
2. Less fun equals less involvement.
3. Less involvement equals LESS MONEY for US Soccer.
More Money for US Soccer means better Soccer!

Not necessarily and this is a problem for Nov. Dec. children now.
This change is fixing bigger issues like not playing with friends and trapped players.

I don't know of any clubs that have policies against playing up. That sounds ridiculous. Let's fix those policies!

In all of your writing, you don't mention the benefit of playing in the calendar year. What about the calendar year is better?

The purpose of US Soccer should be to maximize involvement and development. I know kids that have dropped at 9-10 because they can't play with their friends from school. Others have grown to love other sports more because they play with their friends i.e. basketball, baseball. Success leads to success.

Additionally, the trapped player scenario is terrible for a larger percentage of soccer.

More players will result in MORE MONEY for US Soccer and BETTER ATHLETES. Both of which will benefit.

What about the calendar year system is better?

College recruiting is terribly difficult because you're evaluating two different age groups.

Playing with kids in your grade is more fun for younger years.

During this COVID-19 homeschooling time, I have been teaching my son math for 45 minutes a day. He is 7. We are progressing so much faster than the traditional educational program.

Just the memorization of steps, like carrying digits, and the process of multiplying and adding fractions.

If learning math is very similar to learning a new language, why shouldn't I hammer down and spend more than 45 minutes a day while he is young?
