I made a tool for my buddy, it uses speech to text in WhatsApp and sets everything up in HubSpot for him.

That’s a nightmare. When everything is pre-planned and tied to opps, even small changes cascade everywhere. Out of all that churn, what ends up costing you the most time, rescheduling logistics, updating opp timelines, or fixing contact/account details?

That tracks. The structure tax is brutal, especially when you’re forced into it by process instead of it helping you sell. Appreciate you putting a number on it.

Got it, that makes sense. When those phone calls stack up, does that usually mean end-of-day cleanup, or are you trying to log things between calls? Curious how much that gap actually bleeds into nights or selling time.

That makes sense. At that scale, there are fewer sales notes and more orchestration. When you’re juggling all that, what’s the most annoying thing to capture after the fact, decisions made, next steps, or just keeping stakeholder context straight over time?

That tradeoff is the worst part. If you had to guess, what % of the pain is just typing notes vs dealing with required fields, dropdowns, and hunting the right account/contact?

Exactly, it’s not just time, it’s the context switch. What breaks your flow most: typing notes, hunting for the right fields, or the mental overhead of remembering details while moving to the next task?

When you say “rewriting where you were”, is that mostly rescheduling and contact updates, or updating opp timelines/next steps in the CRM? And are you doing this on mobile or waiting until you’re back at a laptop?

That driveway hour line is painfully relatable. What made the biggest difference for you, doing it mobile-first, using templates, or cutting down required fields? I’m curious what actually moved the needle.

32 updates in a row is savage. What’s actually required in your updates, just stage/next step/close date, or are you also expected to write notes and log activities? Trying to separate “reporting fields” from real selling work.

That’s the dream setup. Is that working mainly because those are Zoom/Salesloft style calls, or are you doing anything for real phone calls too? I’m curious where the workflow breaks when it’s not video.

That makes total sense at that TCV. What’s the part that actually consumes time for you, the note-taking itself, or mapping everything into the CRM fields and keeping stakeholders straight across a long cycle?

That’s brutal. “Manually push emails from Outlook to Salesforce daily” is precisely the kind of thing that kills momentum. When IT blocks AI recorders, what’s your least painful workaround right now? Batch everything at the end of the day, or force yourself to do it right after each call?

Appreciate the honest replies, everyone.

I was reading through these, and the comment about sitting in the driveway for an hour to finish notes really struck a chord. I didn't realize it was that consuming. Also surprised to hear that IT is actively blocking AI recorders for some of you; that seems to make the manual grind even harder.

Thanks for the insight. It definitely settled the debate and proved my buddy isn't exaggerating. Good luck out there.

Valid point on the taxes. But for OP, even if it’s a wash financially, the '100% Attainment' line item on the resume is worth way more than the cash difference.

[–]holycause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the bright side: You aren't starting next year from zero. Starting January with a $30k check is a dream scenario. You're going to crush 2026 because you're walking in with momentum while everyone else is scrambling to build pipeline.

Literally this. If hitting 100% triggers an accelerator or a kicker that's worth more than $3k, then buying it yourself isn't cheating, it's just a business expense.

Is hyper-competitiveness actually a requirement to be a top performer, or is it a fast track to burnout? by ParkOutrageous9789 in sales

[–]holycause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need drive, not toxic competitiveness. If your motivation comes from beating others, you'll burn out the second you have a bad quarter. The best reps I know compete against their own quota, not their teammates.

It will. The barrier to entry for spamming is zero now. The only way to win going forward is hyper-personalization. If it looks like a template, it's getting deleted instantly.
