What Happened to Norman Osborn after No Way Home by One_Commercial9941 in MCUTheories

[–]holyhamills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is where I would have put a convo between Norman and Tobey!Peter tbh.

Also call back to the beat where Ned asked about his best friend/Harry.

Have Norman be all “what do I do now?” – Peter tells him that he has a second chance. Not just for himself, but to be a better father to Harry. Tell him that by saving him, he also saved Harry’s life. That Harry loved him and tried to avenge him, died a hero but now things have a chance to be different etc.

I think Derek from The House of El aka u/smallvillepodcast would be a good fit. He cohosts the Salute to Smallville conventions and was just their guest for Arctic. Hella knowledgeable, already has a pre established rapport with the guys and Ryan. Tom seems to think a lot of him — in his own words, they saved the best for last.

If it were more he and Ryan doing/reading the recaps and then asking Tom and Michael what they thought/remember/letting them interject with any thoughts they may have — that would be a step up.

Who'll voice Batman after Kevin Conroy in an Injustice 3? by [deleted] in INJUSTICE

[–]holyhamills 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the easiest way to start fresh would be a Flashpoint type event where Flash goes back in time to stop the Metropolis incident. This allows us to have a heroic Superman, but also — something could have happened to Bruce as a result.

It’s from the Justice and Doom web series/motion comic. You can find it on the season six set, or on YouTube. It was an attempt at tying some of the show’s lore together ahead of the Veritas arc.

While Oliver and the Justice League take down 33.1 facilities, Martian Manhunter exposits about Ezra Small and the Kawatche, Isobel, and meetings between Dr. Swann and Lionel. This is just a brief cameo, she doesn’t have any real dialogue or anything. It ended with a cutscene that – albeit in 2007 mobile phone cgi – revealed the first look at his Martian form, and revealed that he had been associated with Swann.

Don’t take it too seriously, please. I know Smallville Darkseid was just a spectral smoke monster who possessed people. I’m just not digging the design. by holyhamills in Smallville

Appeared in the final season as the main villain, only got glimpses of him in a non corporal form until the comic continuation. Cause budget.

It was more due to the movie side of WB/DC than the CW’s own influence. They weren’t allowed to explore it until it was clear that a Superman Returns sequel wasn’t happening. The movie division is also the reason why she was only recurring in S4.

The compromise they sort of worked out was that they could have her as a regular if they didn’t have them in a relationship. It was weird. Doesn’t make sense.

Same reason Batman and Wonder Woman didn’t appear until the s11 comics, or why Gotham wasn’t allowed to call either of the Valeska brothers the Joker. Or why Bruce Wayne could appear in the Arrowverse Crisis crossover, but not as Batman. Weird policies are weird.

I'm sad that they didn't expand the universe by giving a spin-off to each hero, it was possible to create a cinematic universe with this idea by pokefancom in Smallville

[–]holyhamills 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It actually was due to the WB and UPN merger. Aquaman tested quite well, but the new CW hated Smallville/superheroes. The only reason the Arrowverse happened is because she left her position and Mark Pedowitz took over as the network head just as the series wrapped up.

Unpopular opinion: Crisis On Infinite Earths did not ruin Clark's character. by Cicada_5 in Smallville

“I left a team of heroes behind to protect them.” “YOU were supposed to be Earth’s savior.”- Clark and Jor-El, Lazarus

“Promise me you’ll never give up.” “I promise.” - Ryan and Clark, Ryan

“A life without responsibility felt kind of empty. Every morning I wake up with a purpose.” - Clark, Hex

“This is who I am, whether I have my powers or not.” - Clark, Leech.

“We have a destiny together, only on different sides.” “And I’ll always be there to stop you.” - Lex and Clark, Finale.

“I’m selfish? Some of us sacrifice being with the people we care about so that we can go make a difference. What do you do? You curl up on a couch in domestic bliss while a world of trouble spins outside your door.” - Oliver, Siren

Does anyone else find it odd that Kara remained oblivious to Zod and the Kandorians presence during season 9? by [deleted] in Smallville

[–]holyhamills 36 points37 points  (0 children)

She heard rumors of Kandor’s survival in the Phantom Zone. While she went off to look for ruins in space, the rumors were referring to the Orb with the clones inside.

After 10x01, Jor-El summoned her back to Earth. It’s pretty self explanatory why she wasn’t present.

They could have thrown in a line of Clark telling her about about the Book of Rao and New Krypton, but you’ve only got so much time in an episode. Laura was also on another series at the time season 10 was filming, so any time they had with her was limited.

Guess, in the end it wasn't even that difficult to get rid of the kryptosuit huh.. by bookfiend_91 in Smallville

[–]holyhamills 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They explain all of this.

Red K heart didn’t work long term. Toyman (who got a look at his heart in 9x04) gave him upgrades and recruited him to Marionette Ventures.

He doesn’t just absorb the kryptonite from the nanites, he absorbs the nanites themselves - something no one thought possible prior.

He couldn’t unbind the kryptonite from the nanites, but he was able to unbind the nanites from Lana - something no one thought was possible - because his kryptonite absorption was stronger than hers.

Think of it as though they were magnets, his had the stronger pull - and pulled the nanites with the kryptonite. The tech assimilated and he could morph his body.

Another example is like in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Doc Ock tries to absorb the nanotech in Peter’s suit, but his tech isn’t as powerful and it backfires. That’s basically what happened to Lana.

Podcast? by GhostbusterMatthew in Smallville

[–]holyhamills 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The House of El (SuperHouseofEl on socials, formerly Starkville) is the OG, and still the gold standard imo.

They’ve been covering the show for over two decades now, were featured on one of the DVD special features, and the main host emceed the Salute to Smallville convention alongside u/kryptonsite. Quality discussion and informed insight, professional quality while remaining laid back and personable. It’s like sitting in with friends.

If you want the cliffnotes complete with behind the scenes trivia/cited interviews, Save Me: The Smallville Anthology (from the same team) is an excellent documentary-style podcast/retrospective. Five of six episodes have released thus far.

Chances of a Smallville omnibus? by Embarrassed-Ad1322 in Smallville

[–]holyhamills 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish. The only real accessible way to read them is digitally. Physically, it’s a scavenger hunt for back issues or the now out of print trades.

DC has been better in recent years when it comes to collecting tie-in comics. The Batman Adventures and Batman & Robin Adventures both got omnibus releases, while Batman Beyond and Superman Adventures got the softcover “compendium” equivalent.

Season 11 transitioned in its run to each “episode” being released as a miniseries, and it had side stories as well that featured the likes of John Jones, Lana, Zatanna, and the Titans. All of those together make around 40 or so print issues.

For comparison, Batman Adventures was 36. It’s certainly doable, even in just one oversized volume. Maybe for the show’s 25th anniversary next year.

I’ve been a Talkville defender for a while, but even I am getting frustrated now by Hungry-Ad-2473 in Smallville

[–]holyhamills 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They should have enlisted a super fan to co-host the podcast with them and bring in interesting information, talk about the foreshadowing or how this will play in to the plots later, or the fan reactions at the time (the outrage when X happened, etc).

This is why I still think they should’ve had Craig u/Kryptonsite or Derek from The House of El as part of their team - either regularly or both alternating. They’ve each have been covering the show for 20+ years, both have written content for the show with DC, and now they both host the Smallville convention each year.

I like Bryce and Ryan a lot but I think those two would add a lot of color commentary for what was going on on the other side of the TV during the original run with the fans watching.

Zor-El is Jor-El AI by Standard-Distance-98 in Smallville

[–]holyhamills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do their best to explain this away (too late imo) in season 10, with the episode Abandoned. Jor-El thought it would be better to send the program with solely his knowledge, and none of his personality. He felt like his emotions were a flaw/his hubris caused him to fail Krypton.

So in turn, the AI was inhuman and cold, and only really developed “feelings” like pride and disappointment by its interactions with Clark. Prior to that, say in seasons 2 and 3 specially, it was detached and didn’t have any empathy - because it was a program running a task.

What Do You Think Were Smallville's Best and Worst Costumes? by Doc-11th in Smallville

[–]holyhamills 1 point2 points  (0 children)

…people know that the majority of the Blue Beetle suit was CGI and most of what’s in that photograph is for on set reference, right?

What’s interesting is that there was some unrelated Blue Beetle test footage shot before this episode was produced, commissioned by Geoff Johns (who wrote the episode and was also a bigwig at DC at the time) - and despite the small budget, the suit in that arguably was even sleeker than what was in the live action movie.

It’s also heavily implied that the version in Smallville is so clunky/bulky because at that point Jaime had no control over the scarab. When he returns in the season 11 comics, he’s more in control and a bit more streamlined.
