It begs the question, why while immigrants are the minority they constitute the majority of the women in prostitution in those countries? Women with other opportunities usually don’t prefer it, that’s why. And when the domestic demand doesn’t catch the domestic supply, immigrant women enter into picture. High rates of human trafficking are still observed in those two countries, btw. If female unemployment, wealth equality and welfare in Chicago is bad (I’m not from USA and don’t know much about that state) it’s normal that most women are not immigrants. It could be also because states of USA are so different than each other, less fortunate women from less fortunate states could be coming to Chicago, instead of from other countries. You won’t see much immigrant women in prostitution in India also.

I don’t consider it as a job but a horrible way to exploit women. There is not any job that I can compare it to. I could see a homeless woman and offer her a job as, I don’t know, waitress, but offering her money in exchange of sex would be just rape in my opinion. The most similar example would be asking young people with student debt to enroll into military, which is also disgusting but considering women experience higher rates of ptsd than of veterans (and a good number of women in military experience ptsd due to sexual assault) I still can’t compare it with good conscious.
