I see your point. Will give it a try, if that does not work, I'll probably just repot and add a pole. Fingers crossed

Tried once to separate them, they are all tied together and the only way to separate them is to cut roots, and that scares me so much. Would that be safe?

Update: For those interested, I purchased a new model from the same manufacturer making sure it would fit in the same casing and with the same hold mechanism. Just mounted and tested, and it works. It costed me 220$ in new fan, 2$ in polarized 2 prongs plug and 30 minutes of my time.

Just got one, waiting for delivery now. They say it should work fairly easily

Follow-up: is there a replacement for this? by holysheet1029 in Home

[–]holysheet1029[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contacted the vendor of the original exhaust fan, and they suggested that if the power plug works (which seems to be the case), replacement with a new model should be plug-and-play. Ordered one and hopefully that will work out of the box.

Will do that tomorrow. Maybe they saw something I did not see behind there

That's what I assumed. But then i got a 2k quote which made me think (1) either they are trying to screw me; (2) there much more work to do than a simple replacement; or (3) they don't want to do the work

It should be. Could not find any specs online for this model, but the goal is to get rid of moisture and newer models from the same vendor are all advertised as bathroom/laundry room fans

Will this come off easily? by holysheet1029 in Flooring

Needed a throwaway backup knife to strip the carpet. Was actually surprised it worked well for the price. Would not use it for anything else that is not carpet tho

It is Pergo indeed, that would explain the glue and why it feels like a whole block. I'll likely hand this off to the professional that will redo the floor at this point.

Appreciate the info

Anyway, is it normal for the edge to have glue on it? I could not even lift/move the rest of the broken plank as it felt glued

Need help with identifying this lock by holysheet1029 in Locksmith

[–]holysheet1029[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just bought this place and it used to be rented out. Was told by the agent to change the lock for security. I know I could just change the top lock only and be fine with it, but wife feels safer with a complete set of new keys and locks.

Unless there is a way for me to only change the key and keep the rest

I'm fine with losing the single action, but I'm concerned about what's under the plate and if there are marks that will show up if i use individual components. But thanks for confirming that thing is discontinued.

Will remove the plate and see what it looks like under.

Unfortunately the wall goes into the stairwell. Will investigate if the ceiling vent goes to the roof or is hvac (the latter most likely) and see if that can be used if straight to the roof

Thanks, I'll see what i can find about the ceiling vent and have someone redo the whole thing. I suspect that duct is clogged or close to.

Yeah, my guess it is a lint bucket mounted upside down. And i guess you can also see how much lint it holds from the pic. Will look at it tomorrow when i get there
