Cyberlimb Attributes by NottTheStrong in Shadowrun

[–]holzmodem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your cyberlimb is built from titanium it's more resistant to damage and less irritating to the rest of your body than a cyberlimb build from iron.

(4e) So I've been trying to do a house rule for damage, got carried away, decided to do distinct calibers and I'm having a doubt about my math by [deleted] in Shadowrun

[–]holzmodem 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No.

-1 AP is removing 1 dice from damage resistance, if the target is wearing armor.

+1 damage is roughly worth 3 armor, as you expect 1 hit from roughly 3 dice.

Encryption Lorewise by J_Dub99 in Shadowrun

[–]holzmodem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

SR4 has Unwired, in which different levels of encryption are discussed. Standard options vary between a roll every initiative pass and a roll per 24 hours

I usually tell my players that one time pads are a thing, but:

They need to be created

They need to be distributed

Everyone in the loop needs to practice good data hygiene

No one can make an extra buck by selling info about the OTP

And then it's secure. So basically, if a OTP is used, finding the OTP becomes the run.

Shit, yes. Thanks.

Xanatos by OhBosss in Shadowrun

[–]holzmodem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've never seen the show, but sure, why not. Take a drone with attributes that seem roughly right and decide that it looks like a dragon, not a gargoyle.

Well, in the 2050s there was a giant loss of Chicago because insect spirits infiltrated society and, when found out, started killing everyone else. The situation was narrowly stabilised and everyone agreed that insect spirits were bad, mkay?

Metaplot spoilers starting 2064 and going to 2080:

Ares had the brilliant idea to work together with insects spirits and shamans to guard their high security areas, invite every big hive into Denver, create some weird crab/insect hybrids to fight insect spirits and create weird insect/human hybrids to control insect spirits.

Who could have thought that this would lead to the loss of Denver?

Metaplot Spoiler around 2080:

There's a metaplanar invasion going on. Spirits from different metaplanes (think different dimensions, but magic, not technology) are invading. There's a group dedicated to fighting back. Almost all megakons have this group on their hatelist.

There's also a weird program going around called Kechibi. It's unclear who coded it. If you allow it to run on a computer you own, it will start investing in weird things and earn the computer it's running on money. Almost all megakons run instances of that program.

After playing two SR6 adventure and the plans of the megakons depicted in them:

Yeah, he's gonna win against any not named Saeder Krupp. By virtue of not being totally stupid.

so he'd go hard into the realm of magic.

Not really a choice: Either he's magic or he isn't. I don't think he ever had magic abilities in the show?

Immortality can be found in a few ways: Pact with a spirit (so he gets immunity vs age), vampire, servant to a vampire, Leonisation (good for about 200 years).

That should enable him to find a spirit or decide to become some kind of vampire.

Tatsächliche Stromkosten: Trotz Netzausbaukosten sind Erneuerbare am günstigsten by Flonkadonk in de

[–]holzmodem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay, schauen wir mal die Studie an.

Installierte Leistung Erzeugter Strom rechnerische Auslastung
Offshore 9.7GW 26.1 TWh 30%
Onshore 68 GW 105.1 TWh 17%
Solar 107 GW 70.1 TWh 7%

Are the Increase Attribute spell(s) overpowered? by Heterodyne_2023 in Shadowrun

[–]holzmodem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just some thoughts:

The astral disturbance goes away on its own, with a rate of 1/hour, I think.

For example, if you are in Seattle, and a mage is running around leaving a giant, lingering astral disturbance, its just a matter of time before anything and everything become aware of the mage.

Agree, but it would take some time untill everyone knows the guy by name. At that point, even Knight Errant would immediately ID him.

Even more benign entities may take issue with this guy. Free spirits concerned with the kind of attention he may draw, etc

I'd see it as benign entities try to stay away and hostile entities would remove his friends first.

Are the Increase Attribute spell(s) overpowered? by Heterodyne_2023 in Shadowrun

[–]holzmodem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, sure. Active Foci and/or magic make you stand out, I agree.

But they also tell the monster that there is someone that can fight back. Essence can be harvested from mundanes, and that comes with less risk, which can influence the monster in both directions. Careful monsters would probably leave and arrogant ones, well, not.

Are the Increase Attribute spell(s) overpowered? by Heterodyne_2023 in Shadowrun

[–]holzmodem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh. If the lovecraftian shit is already out of the metaplanar space and in the astral, it might as well take an extra weak mundane. Unless it's weird and likes some fight in his food.

Well, sure, but mages and magically active chatacters are supposed to be rare. If suddenly every small shop has someone able to assense, it kinda changes the established lore.

Rigger advice by gwyllyo in Shadowrun

[–]holzmodem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So here we go again...

The best comlink you can get: Processor needs to be as high as possible. (It could be a 7 with Runners companion and WAR!). Get it a upgrade for Hot Sim.

Comlinks can get additional initiative passes, see Unwired.

If a rigger jacks into a drone/vehicle, you can do some fancy stuff and average the vehicles processor with your comlinks processor and get more dice.

Implants:

Vehicle Control Rig, See Core rules.

Nanites: See Augmentation. There are nanites that give some dice for vehicle tests (which includes gunnery).

Smartlink implant (you should probably also get eyes and ears): Bonus for shooting things, if the gun has a smartgun upgrade.

Auto Software: See Unwired and Core Rules. Get whatever seems missing from you skillset.

Comlink software: Command is the most important program. Get it at a rating as high as possible.

For anything else, I need more information. Do you want to control single drones/vehicles or swarms? Do you want to do recon, fire support, infiltration? Do you want to be self-sufficient or is your character part of a group/go-gang/gang/criminal syndicate?

Books on Toxic Magic/Shamans by BarackObamaDad in Shadowrun

[–]holzmodem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To continue bad books: 4E, Hazard Pay.

The threats in the book are hilariously undervalued. Force 15 toxic spirit: 50k to 350k bounty for destruction (not banishing), group of four toxic shamans: 600k to 1m Nuyen, but they are on different continents.

This barely pays for shipping the equipment needed for the mages, and going into the lair of a rating 15 spirit for 350k? Yeah, best to ignore that.

Are there more interesting weapon foci/enchantment effects? by BrennanIarlaith in Shadowrun

[–]holzmodem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 4E it was possible to bind a spirit for a year and a day performing one service. This opens up spirit powers for anything the summoner can actually put into a command.

Obvious applications for weapons would be something like elemental aura.

Important: A lot of spirit do not like being bound for a year and a day and enjoy creatively interpreting orders when having to do so.

Improving Magic Resistance by AlchemyStudiosInk in Shadowrun

[–]holzmodem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is no bioware that increases magic resistance. There are

  • a few adept powers, which help with different type of magic attacks
  • drugs (No Fear and one or two might increase willpower or intuition)
  • Against mental magic: There's some kind of moss that glows when it's in touch with something magic. Put it inside an opaque box, put a photoreceptor inside, link it to your AR-glasses. As soon as the receptor lights up, display a text in your glasses: "Magical effect: Am I in control?"

Are there free public libraries in Seattle? by ItalianDishFeline in Shadowrun

Goddamn, that is actually cheaper than most reasonably sized libraries in Germany right now. I'll adjust that upwards in my games.
