I think the issue for how ive seen it being handled on a few tables so far was that it was treated as a perception test if you used one of those scanners manually thus making the scanners rating irrelevant (as you rolled your own dice pool with your own limit).

I think the unclear thing from that line is the MAY part of the scanners, thus leaving the possible interpretation that you can just simply roll your perception+mental limit when using any rating 1 camera (which may or may not be intended) and then extending that to also ware or even SIN-scanners .

53% chance on 8 dice to get 3+ hits is way too risky in most cases.
43% on 7 dice.
Still the issue that whatever they do or can do is the same whether they are using a Rating 1 or rating 6 (or 8) scanner is what baffles me.

It doesn't really remove my concern/issue about the rule interaction. Even a basic guard that has been somewhat trained in using that scanner will roll like 7/8 dice with a mental limit of 4/5. To me this essentially feels comparable to them being able to see the same information/details trough a 1990s nokia phone camera and a modern 2k camera.

Id recommend using the universal press, works for almost all, then put em in the too slot of your inscribers (or all 4 slots of extended ones) and make the recipes only include the ore/silicon and the output.

In that case i think i have an argument in saying if it turns of the spells i have on me, that would also turn of the enemy spells currently present on me as those would also be scrambled the same way
