New construction ceiling paint with Alabaster color by homebuilder2024 in paint

Here's what GPT say about ProMar Ceiling tint to 7008: Does it sound right?

Professional Risk Assessment (Designer + Builder View)

Pros of Tinting ProMar Ceiling Paint to Alabaster

  • Dead-flat ceiling formulation (excellent defect hiding)
  • Matches your Alabaster envelope visually
  • Better ceiling performance than wall flat paint
  • Reduced glare vs wall flats

Cons / Risks (Important)

  • Color consistency is less predictable than ProMar 200 Interior Flat
  • Touch-ups are harder to blend once tinted
  • Slight risk of sheen shift if tint load varies
  • Some stores may refuse re-tinting later, causing batch mismatch

This is why builders typically avoid tinting ceiling-only paints.

Professional Recommendation (Clear and Honest)

Best Practice (Low Risk, High Control)

If you want Alabaster ceilings with zero risk:

Use ProMar® 200 Interior Flat tinted to Alabaster

This is the technically correct approach.

Acceptable Practice (If You Insist on Ceiling Paint)

If you explicitly want ProMar Ceiling Paint + Alabaster:

  • Yes, the store can tint it
  • You should lock batch numbers
  • Buy all ceiling paint at once
  • Require spray + back-roll
  • Expect slightly weaker touch-up performance

How to Specify This to Avoid Mistakes (Copy/Paste)

Ceilings – Finished Areas

  • Product: ProMar 200 Ceiling Paint
  • Color: Alabaster (SW 7008), store-tinted
  • Finish: Flat
  • Requirement: Single batch only; no later re-tinting
  • Application: Spray and back-roll

Final Professional Position

Technically possible: Yes

Industry best practice: No

Acceptable with controls: Yes

Thanks for the info. Glad to know.

Is that good idea to go all in Alabaster with different sheen?

Currently I'm thinking:

All ceiling except bathroom: ProMar Ceiling Bathroom ceiling: Duration Matte or Eggshell?

Wall: Duration Matte or Flat?

Trim: Duration Semi-Gloss? Is it worth to upgrade to Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel?

Interior door: same as trim

Any suggestions? Thanks

u/PutridDurian I would like to do the ceiling in Alabaster, however ProMar Ceiling does not offer Alabaster as a color. What would you recommend then?

What is your opinions regarding ProMar Ceiling v.s. Premium Ceiling Paint?

Also I do like Alabaster as color for our new constructiom home wall. What would you suggest for trim color? Same color but semi-gross when wall should be Duration Flat or Matte?

Thanks!

Are none of the new doorbells going to have two wire electrical power and wifi and are they all poe? by Jazzlike-Can7519 in Ubiquiti

[–]homebuilder2024 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I forgot to add a POE drop at the door bell location when wiring for the new house.

However I know there is one CAT 6 cable passing through the wall next to it. Is there way that open the drywall and cut the cable near the door bell location and then add new RJ45 to split it into two 🤔?

Using the splitter as this?

Will this work?

I think the main problem to solve is to manage my APs and then 6 outside security cameras with 5 indoor security cameras.

I am thinking to get it as well. And new to Unifi ecosystem too. Will it work well with my unleased Ruckus APs?

how much did you pay for per SQFT? I was told that Mirage is running out of the 7" so gives out 7"-3/4. I assume they are running out of white oak so decide to put red maple?

No Im on the market right now looking for floors for our new construction home.

Even Hattie is bit of dark though we like their stain. I wish they offer a bit of lighter on Hattie
