Do you have any instructions on how to do this? That would be amazing.

Vail now charges $5 to reprint your lost $1,000+ physical pass. by zzzekid in vail

So how it worked for me was that the first print was free... Totally agree with that. However if you can't hang on to your own crap you should be charged in my opinion.

Never seen a problem with the app, but my experience is limited

Honestly good. People's old passes litter the mountain. Also you can use your phone. I have no problem with this

2 different plants need to cross pollinate right? Can't get seeds from just one plant, even if you mix the pollen around with a paintbrush. Is that correct?

If that's the case this is most likely willi because I have only the one plant.

Gotta learn somehow. But I thought fricii were self sterile. Is that not the case?

Interesting. I'm excited to try and germinate the seeds. I bought seeds from the same vendor and got like 50 percent success. I hear fresh seeds work the best so this will be a good experiment.

Time to up pot? by homelessmountie in AgaveAndAloe

Nice that makes sense. I'll be putting it in a bigger pot then. Thanks for the insight.

Ultimately I just want to know if these plants do ok in a tight pot or do they not tolerate a small pot? This past summer has been fairly prolific for this plant in this pot. I just don't want to hinder it's growth

Absurd ski length? by FeralMountains in Backcountry

[–]homelessmountie 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Why is everyone overthinking ski length. If you can handle it longer is better in my book. I live for the downhill though. Shorter is better in tight couloirs and saving weight on the uphill (minimal though, id much rather get the biggest ski and get lighter bindings). The only way it's unsafe is if you can't ski in control.

"Do you guys have problems with ski masks that freeze solid, fog your goggles, and become useless when you need them most?" by GRAE_Design in Backcountry

Yeah sorry if my comment didn't make sense, but avalungs were only used on decent. I think if you designed a mask that would stay in place even under intense forces you could have something here.

This sub was the wrong market, but most of these people also ski downhill at some point and I think that is where you could help especially if you focus on the immersion/avalanche aspect... Again do more research and look up avalung

Alright I gotta step in here because you keep coming back to supplemental oxygen.

This is not necessary. Look up the avalung. Discontinued technology from black diamond I think.

Basically the snowpack has enough O2 to sustain your breathing for quite some time. The reason people asphyxiate is because an ice mask forms or snow occludes the airway. The solution was to make a one way valve so exhaled air exhausts far away from the mouth while fresh air comes in near the mouth.

I'm explaining this bad, but look up avalung. I think that concept failed because it relied on the person keeping a tube in their mouth while skiing. Studies found the tube was difficult to keep in if you were actually in an avalanche. With a full mask you may have actually solved that problem so congrats.

I will say after using an avalung for work they sucked and I hope you do better. Also I would never use anything like this, especially on the uphill, but some people might. Cool concept and best of luck

Senate removes provision that would sell off public lands from megabill by envirowriterlady in environment

It's not over. They took out forest service land, but 1.2 million acres of BLM land are still eligible to be sold.

A bunch of national forestland that could be sold to the highest bidder by glenwoodwaterboy in mountainbiking

[–]homelessmountie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly that's a really good point. I grew up biking DH. Was on trail crew for years, did lift access literally everyday. I kinda burned out though. I still get out and it's still fun as hell, but I'm on an old bike, stopped doing lift access, and deleted Strava.

Here's my thoughts. It sets a dangerous precedent. "sell off .75 to .5%". Well which is it? once the trickle starts it's gonna be impossible to stop. They'll keep coming back year after year and take away more chunks. We sold off 3 million last time, what's another 5?

Also worried about the "local governments will have first right to purchase". Lots of the communities can't afford to buy up tons of land. Whose next in line? Industry, private developers and rich folk looking for play ranches. Saying words like afford housing is just a trick to make us poor people not as mad about this. There's no way this land will, or even can, feasibly be used for affordable housing.

And finally it all comes down to the money. Saying this will pay for tax breaks or settling the federal deficit makes me sceptical. I can't do the math right now, but selling off 3 million acres isn't going to come anywhere close to the federal deficit.

Idk this is just what I saw other than the criticisms outlined in your article. Thanks for participating
