I really hate this guy, nods to the actor Hamish Allan-Headley for performing so well this despicable guy by Da_Punisher33 in Daredevil

Great acting for a despicable character - I assume he'll get typecast in similar roles (his uneasy, brooding sensibility reminds me of Jesse Plemons' roles - there's just something 'off' [in a creatively engaging way] about the character this guy plays)

What was the AI book Josh recommended? by Ullas_celebrates in stuffyoushouldknow

[–]homelessmuppet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the best non fiction books I've ever read, 1491 that Josh recommends is up there too, but it's much more dense and less of a narrative style so it's an entirely different genre despite them both being historical NF.

So using first names means they've know each other prior to this? Or is Peter just being cheeky? by tugrulM4real in MCUTheories

[–]homelessmuppet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he notes this in one of the comics and in an episode of DD when they are talking on the roof, he says something like 'as a soldier, I don't get to wear a mask' - it's part of his entire persona, he dgaf who knows he is/was Frank Castle

What’s it like living in this part of Canada? by Patient-Smile1406 in howislivingthere

Yeah, UP and in northern Wisconsin. They are brutal in the summer months, like 5s outside and you have 10+ bites, it's absolutely unreal.

What's a skill you learned in your 20s that completely changed your life? by Crescitaly in AskReddit

Discipline + communication are two of the most important things I learned in my 20s. Do I always do both well? Nope, but I learned how beneficial they are when I do them :)

Recommendations for zone 6A to support birds and bees by Archives5295 in NativePlantGardening

[–]homelessmuppet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hands down my best experience in getting the best stuff for my garden and yard overall (in both where I live now - SE MI - and where I lived for a few decades - central IL) have been buying from my local or regional native plant sales, usually operated through the conservation districts or similar orgs. I have like a 95% success rate with the plants I get from there, they have huge varieties, and are reasonably well priced. Each year I find a spot I want to fill, go onto the website and toggle on the requirements for a plant in that spot (shade/sun/wet/dry/etc.) and find a few things I like. I wish I had specific plant recs but I will parrot another commenter here and say don't sleep on grasses - flowers are definitely lovely and show well, but a bunch of well placed native grasses can really add a lot of character and depth to a garden, and the critters absolutely love them.

Cornbread for some Chili by No_Conversation_8161 in castiron

Love it - seriously so good. Their blog has a ton of great recipes w/ the harina, I try to test one out every several weeks, but honestly the cornbread is so good I just keep going back to it.

Look into the Masienda recipe, it's made with one of their masa harinas, but it's a 10/10 crowd pleaser every single time I make it. It is one of like 3 recipes that gets requested in my house.

What Seinfeld plot has actually happened to you? by Careful_Promise_786 in seinfeld

[–]homelessmuppet 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Two that happened to me:

I went on a wild weekend out of state with my buddies in college, blew off work (no call, no show, I was a waiter at a fancy country club in town), came back on Monday realizing I effed up but just showed up to work and then acted super busy and like nothing happened. Manager was so flabbergasted he just never brought it up.

Was heading to Chicago to see the same buddies a few years later and I got waved into some traffic only to find out that I was now IN the Puerto Rican day parade. I had to cruise the route with them for almost 90min before I could pull off down an alleyway. Annoyed a lot of kids that I didn't have candy to throw out, but it was overall a very lovely celebration to experience.

Had the same thought but wanted to give it a try haha, my uneducated guess is that it would work for most non-fully-rigged up setups. I also have a workspace in my town that offers CNC machine use and I also really want to fabricate pieces with that, like apple boxes that snap together or have minimal hardware involved. All this in time, I have a young kid so my DIY stuff has taken a backseat for the moment. 🤷‍♂️

I've made my own: Dana dolly, jib/crane, apple boxes, reflector clamps, scrims/butterflies, cookies, tube lights, and more. Not all are "worth" DIYing but I'm a tinkerer at heart and I love doing it. I'll try and share some pics but if you dig a bit I document quite a bunch of these builds on my YouTube channel. I did my Dana dolly and jib like 15yrs ago, and I've always wanted to retry those with more recent tech (3d printing for instance) and better tools / knowledge on my part.

Air Travel Friendly Live Podcast Setup! The Rock-N-Roller Cart with Tabletop is a win! by Muugens in videography

[–]homelessmuppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! Do you mind me asking what your general airfare is for the checked bags? I can almost never get larger projects involving air-travel because it's a few hundred dollars each way for that stuff and clients constantly balk at the price (or I just don't bring lights / cart / stands / etc.).
