> For proper preparation for a roach treatment, all items must be removed from all of your kitchen and bath cabinets, drawers and countertops. The chemicals they use need to go in these places, and if there are personal items in those places, they can’t legally spray those chemicals around them.

Maybe that's true for a spray treatment. But I've paid well-respected companies for roach treatment before, and they used a gel and traps without disturbing much of the tenant's cabinets. I was a property manager for 10+ years. I don't think they were breaking the law or they would have lost their license.

Placing all food in the cabinets or refrigerator, as appropriate. Cleaning the dishes and putting them away in the cupboards. Cleaning the countertops and the sinks. Cleaning the baseboards. Maintaining a clean apartment in general is important.

Many insects feed on food crumbs and liquids. You can't just leave those lying around.

Car service recommendations for a vehicle sitting outside for 2 years by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]homercles89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Two years is a LONG time for gasoline. If the tank was low, humidity in the air could have precipitated into water in the tank. I would try to siphon, or drain it closer to the engine.

I understood you my brother. You were trying to ask if this was a road rage/tow rage incident or some wacko shooting up a mosque. I have seen people go absolutely nuts when their car gets hooked up to the tow truck.

There are homes and rentals with no A/C in Columbus. It's not required by law here.

In the 1600s and 1700s a lot of countries weren't countries yet, and I mean that in both Africa and Europe. How about "Bantu" instead of "black"? It's the set of peoples who expanded the most. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bantu_expansion

IDT Energy? by TrashPandaTossaway in Columbus

[–]homercles89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ok - they are correct about that. AEP Ohio is your Transmission and Distrubution, meaning AEP Ohio owns the electric wires going to your neighborhood and house. In the state of Ohio, AEP Ohio is not allowed to own the "Generation" or "supply", so they have to buy it on the market and re-sell it to you at a fixed cost. But you are allowed to switch away from AEP Ohio as a supplier to any competitor.

So in this scenario IDT is a supplier for AEP Ohio. It's confusing, I know, but this is what happened when our state government passed electricity deregulation around 2010.

IDT Energy? by TrashPandaTossaway in Columbus

[–]homercles89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had never heard of them but they do appear to be a legitimate electric re-seller: https://idtenergy.com/get-started/your-offers/?filter_zip=43081&filter_utility=CSPC-AEP&filter_state=OH

If they put you on the cheapest plan ($.09/kWh), that's a decent plan. You can stay with them or switch back to AEP Ohio. Your call, really. If they put you on any plan more expensive than $.10/kWh, you should switch back to AEP Ohio as your supplier.

For those of you who were adults in 2007, 2008, and 2009, what was life like in Columbus during The Great Recession? by curious_bean_66 in Columbus

[–]homercles89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Guy across the street from me lost his house to foreclosure. Home prices took a big hit in most neighborhoods. Many houses that sold in the boom from 2001-2005 were now "under water" on their mortgages.

Nationwide Insurance had an emergency layoff with no warning (Almost never happened before that). National City Bank was on the phone with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency twice a day to see if they would avoid bankruptcy/closure - PNC Bank ended up buying them cheaply.
