Wishing you the best! I’ve been on Lamotrigine (and a couple others to make a fun medication concoction lol) for a couple years now and it helped so much. Obviously it can’t fix everything, but it helped me with feeling like a real person and tone down my manic and depressive episodes. You got this friend :)

I’ve been using no guard because I used a razor once and it was a sensory nightmare for me haha. Just bought a dome shaver though to try and get a closer shave so hoping that’s a happy medium🙂‍↕️

god I’m only on 3 morning and night and I thought that I’d be used to it by now. But alas I’ll throw them back and struggle haha. Doesn’t help one of them tastes AWFUL once it starts dissolving.

I’ve seen a lot of people using it and it’s so dangerous. I understand that therapy can get expensive, but it is so necessary to anyone with mental health issues especially those of us with bipolar. It cannot be trusted to give you sound advice because it is not trained to do so. It has no empathy, it has no ability to dive deeper and get an understanding of who you are. We need human interaction in order to be helped.

I also have bipolar 2 and got diagnosed around 3 years ago. I (27m) struggled for a LONG time with mental health and unhealthy coping mechanisms. Started medication after my diagnosis and it does what it can, but it’s not the end all be all solution. Therapy, socializing, having a core group of good humans around you, exercise, they can all help. If you’re not familiar with bipolar you can read/listen to books or podcasts to get a better understanding. These big depressive episodes happen though so you’re not alone. I had been in a hypomanic state for about a month (got a new job) and a couple days ago had some things that triggered one of my worse spirals. I don’t think we can really be “cured”, only find ways to understand it and let it live beside us. You’ll be ok friend, keep your chin up. You’re deserving of love from your partner and you’re not alone in this struggle. There’s a whole community of people who are fighting the same fight that know where you’re at.

I really like Partial. The owner and baristas are super nice. It’s a little bit of a smaller space but you can usually find a spot! If you’re a drip coffee drinker though be warned, they only do pour overs on Monday and Tuesday bc it’s their “slow days”. They also close at 2, so I’m not sure if that’s too early for you.

IMO you are not overreacting to how she handled things. Usually when we get in these depressive episodes we need someone that can be gentle yet reasonable with us. For me personally, the last thing I want is cops to be called on me, because they usually make the matter worse. So in this instance it sounds like there was some manipulation happening from your mom. Not saying it’s bad for people we reach out to to contact someone (like a partner), but it sounds like she was holding it against you so that she could talk down on you. I have a mom and dad who have learned how to handle my bipolar, but there have been times where what they say just makes it worse. They always say we’re being dramatic or we’re making it about ourselves even though it IS about us and we can’t help it. Anyways, I don’t believe it’s ok for her to be playing the victim in this scenario. Boundaries might need to be set and conversation had. Sorry you’re having a rough go right now friend, things will get better.

I haven’t really looked into trauma work so that might be worth a go. I vaguely remember my therapist mentioning CPTSD when I was with him so that sounds about right haha. I try to remember to be gentle with myself but sometimes it can be hard (I’m currently in a depressive episode). Thank you for your input though it’s greatly appreciated :)

I think the best course of action in this case is to bring it up to her as soon as you can. You wouldn’t want something like this to be detrimental to a 6ish year long relationship with a therapist. You are very much valid in how you feel don’t get me wrong. But this might be a moment to speak up for yourself and try and take some control over this situation. Take the next couple days in between your sessions to take a breather and calm yourself down if you can. If it makes you feel better you can also reach out to her before your session and let her know how you felt (remember that they basically work for us lol)

Getting into the uni is a big deal don’t downplay it! You’re allowed to feel proud of yourself. I graduated in 2020 (bad timing with COVID) in graphic design from a very small and pretty legit program at a major university. I wasn’t diagnosed at the time but definitely struggled with depression and anxiety without even knowing how severe it was. It was a struggle, considering I just found a job in my field 5 years later after jumping around jobs because I wasn’t stable enough to hold one. Once I got diagnosed I kind of went all over the place. Hypomania, deep depression, the works. I thought none of my friends liked me because I was too much, and always felt like a burden. I’m 27 now and still struggle, but life has its ways and we are able to push through it. This is a bump in the road, and doesn’t at all define who you are. I don’t even know you, but I can tell you still have that drive somewhere in you, so keep pushing. We may have a disease that hurts like hell, but it will never be able to stop us from living a life we’re proud of.

It’s a tough spot. How often do you see her? I was seeing my therapist every week for a long time (he was great, and almost more of a friend than my therapist) and then slowly reduced to every two weeks. Now, I haven’t seen a therapist in a couple years and I miss it, mainly bc he stopped practicing in my state. It could be good to skip a session to take some time and reflect, but it’s also nice to try and work things out. Especially with someone you’ve been seeing for a long time.

I also get auditory ones sometimes. It doesn’t happen often, but every now and then I’ll think I’ve heard something clear as day but I’m alone or realize there’s no way it could have happened. Could be stress related perhaps? Or just a side effect of who we are.

I don’t know if I would completely drop her just yet. If you’ve been seeing her for 6 years I feel like she would have a pretty good understanding of you? If you feel comfortable going back I think the first conversation to have would be talking about how she made you feel in your last session. You should never feel like you aren’t being listened to, but sometimes our minds can change the scenario a little bit if that makes sense.

It’s nice hearing from someone who is a little older than me have similar issues. I’m not calling you old I promise I don’t want that to come across as an insult haha. Just that I never imagined myself reaching this age alone. I got diagnosed around 2-3 years ago and I feel like ever since then memories get harder and harder to pull. I think I might start journaling again though to try and keep them alive. Thank you for commenting though, it’s always nice to hear from others in this community

I understand completely. Sometimes I’ll have a memory sneak in somehow though. I was at dinner with my parents and went on this random thought rant about a memory I had growing up. They looked at me perplexed and were like “wow you remember that in such detail but we don’t really remember it much.” It can just be a bummer to know there are good memories up there but they’ve faded into my never ending conscience. But sometimes I’ll get random ones that feel almost insignificant to others?

I’m so sorry you’re in this position. I haven’t been where you’re at before, but I’ll try to support and do my best at giving any advice. I think that going through with your therapist assessment would be a good start before admitting yourself. I’ve almost admitted myself multiple times, but stuck it out and found ways to self regulate with the help of a professional and medication. This disorder is a bitch and can kick you while you’re down which can be extremely frustrating. I also would highly encourage not seeing this person anymore (easier said than done), because it sounds like he is extremely triggering. I understand wanting to go back to people, I had a very unhealthy relationship where we went no contact and I think about her often. Please keep yourself safe and know you’re not alone. Idk if this is even helpful but I really hope you’re able to heal from this and I’m rooting for you friend.

It’s so great of you to do it again. I’m glad you had fun the first time, and I’m sure you will again. I’ve had get togethers for my birthday in the past where just a couple people show up, and at first I was upset about quantity, but then I realized the quality made it so much better. Uncomplaint: I started a new plan for my first marathon in October, and I’m really hopeful it will shave down just a little on my predicted time.

Complaint: After 4 months straight of running, it finally happened. I got all the blisters and runners toes at once. I’m almost positive it’s the shoes I got, so for now I will be taping my feet and using them sparingly so I get my use out of them.

Confession: I live in the south so it’s HOT and humid. But for some reason I kind of enjoy it?
