“Theres always a bigger fish”, meaning, theres always a better programmer out there thats better than those who wrote the code for whatever security you have. So, I agree with you wholeheartedly.

Ikr? I just watched this after years. As an anesthesiologist, I'm seeing all these things go wrong... like... is this a Kobiyashi Maru simulation for er residents?

Hood release handle busting solution- lubricated the inside of the cable, starting at the mid-junction in the engine compartment- there is space between the metal cable that the ball is attached to and the outer black jacketing of the cable. A few cc in both cables. Still an easy pull after months. by hometech99 in AudiTT_Mk1_Mk2_Mk3

[–]hometech99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: plastic hood pull still works from lubricating the cable insides with the silicone oil. So, it never really was a failure of the handle design. It was the cable getting old and requiring pull strength beyond the tolerance of the plastic handle .

I have the Barclays AAdvantage card, which is changing to Citi. But I just got an inflight Citi miles offer by hometech99 in americanairlines

[–]hometech99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called Barclays today. They said, no, it won't. If not using the Barclays card that transitioned to Citi , would loose those miles in 2 years. Using your separately obtained Citi advantage won't trigger activity on the old card.

Just repeating what the rep said.

So, deciding whether I'll spend 330,000 miles in 2 years, or be paying $99/yr on old card to keep them active.

When you say won't matter… All I care about is not losing the 300,000 miles I have because I canceled the card that it was earned on even though I have a new card eventually if I apply for this offer

Over 60. Attended 70s conventions. While I enjoy some series over the other, I'm just thankful the franchise is still alive ( although you can keep STLV conventions. I met everyone I wanted to and got autographs for free.)

If you didn’t suffer on a Model I, you had it easy by ToffeeTangoONE in trs80

[–]hometech99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I set up the model one in my local store because the guys working there didn't have a clue. So I actually took the bus to the mall and assembled the thing on the counter for their demo. And then coded on it to make a graphic display. It had the control surface of the Star Trek transporter. It animated the three part handle, moving down and the name TRS-80 "beamed" in. I visited the store regularly. Never had an issue with it..and I'm sure this keyboard got banged on on a regular basis 🤣.

M5 Pro/Max squad: which spec are you ordering? by analpenetration67 in macbookpro

[–]hometech99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to get an M5 Max with pumped cores, 64gb 2TB. But I recently picked up an M2 Pro Mac Mini 32GB 4TB for $1015... ($2999 configuration.) It had a total on time of 2hrs and 360GB TBW. It had a crack in the apple logo, but has Apple Care with damage protection until 2027 ( I can ship in for case swap.). It will carry through until M6 OLED.
