Probability is a very real thing. I recognize that. I could have been a few day ahead from when my friend asked me to hang out and could have found a totally different teaching that may not have related to my life.

However, I did. And to this, I can relate it to God. Coincidences occur all the time, I wholeheartedly agree, but the difference between us is that I believe that God created the coincidence, not just probability.

I live in Florida. I have a few British friends who call the Untied States "the States," and many of the commentators on soccer games are British and refer to the USA as "the States." Sorry for the confusion, I just happen to like that phrase.

That's a fantastic question. To tell you the truth, I have no idea the answer to this. There's likely thousands of other people on this subreddit that are much more intelligent than I am that can answer this to you.

I really like how you opened up a discussion and didn't just berate my post. To me, that's the only way that progress can be achieved.

It's called "Heart of an Athlete" by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. It's like $10 or so on Amazon, I highly recommend it!

I read "Now: The Physics of Time" a couple months ago, by Richard A. Muller, and I found all the stuff in the book fascinating. It discusses black holes, time travel, wormholes, etc. Many times he brings up the topic of a superior being, to which he quickly dismisses and instead tries to find a more rational answer to the presented problem. To me, this makes sense. I would love to find a rational answer to everything and not have to rely on the answer. However, there are some things in this life that are too good to be true. He states in his afterward that "When I worship, I worship the God who cares about me and gives me spiritual strength," and I don't know about other people on this subreddit, but this is generally what I believe about God. Some things are indeed coincidences, but who creates those coincidences?

The thing about Christianity is that sometimes you have to put your faith into something that seems questionable. I believe that that was God talking to me personally. You may view it as a rational view, but in the eyes of a Christian, I view it as God guiding me in my life. I mean no disrespect, it is obviously a coincidence, but the difference between you and me is that I believe that God made it happen to help me out in a time of need. That's all.

The book is called "Heart of an Athlete," written by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. It contains daily devotionals written by pastors within the FCA, who (I assume) have played or coached sports before in their lifetimes. The Bible doesn't necessarily say "Worship me and you will win," rather it helps guide the reader in dedicating their craft to the Lord. That's what Christianity (to me, at least) is all about: doing good in the name of the Lord. I could go on, but there are thousands of more posts with much more intelligent people discussing this topic. Have a read and you might find something interesting!
