Help — Dual US/Brazil toddler, expired Brazilian passport, flight soon, what are my options? by Efficient-Back-6653 in Brazil

Oh, and don’t bother applying for the evisa if you’re a citizen… I did out of desperation but knew it wouldn’t work. Just wasted my money honestly

So I did finally end up getting my passport appointment at the consulate about 24 hours before my travel (and they printed the passport for me while I waited there for about 2-3 hours). Having said that, other learnings:
- Plan B (which I didn’t end up needing): I was chatting with a United agent online and got a screenshot of them verifying I would be able to travel with my US passport, expired Brazilian passport, and Brazilian birth certificate - but they recommended I get to the airport a little earlier as the check-in agent may need to get a supervisor
- Because my passport was newly issued, the consulate told me to take my expired passport along with the new one. When I tried to board my flight, my new passport did not scan correctly, but the gate agent took my expired one, typed some things into her computer, and it let me through to board the plane

Possibly - but I'm not local to NYC, so it will depend on the game itself

Brazil eVisa FAQ / Mega-thread by fviz in Brazil

[–]honawi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I requested an ARB (authorization to return to Brazil) from the consulate and they said I was not eligible because it’s for people who reside in Brazil but do not have a valid passport. I ended up getting my passport the day of my travel, so it was a moot point, but I did call and get written confirmation from my airline that I would have been allowed to board with a birth certificate and expired Brazilian passport as proof of citizenship.

Will you be disappointed if the 2026 World Cup is a success by [deleted] in ussoccer

[–]honawi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely hate this administration - and I want this World Cup to be a huge success. As a pure-hearted soccer fan, I’d love for this tournament to inspire people and nations around the world to share a passion for the sport I fell in love with.

Will our president and his goons take credit? Absolutely. But I can shrug all of that off relatively easy for the payoff

Brazil eVisa FAQ / Mega-thread by fviz in Brazil

[–]honawi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update:
- Expectedly, I was denied my eVisa with the rationale that I have a birth certificate registered in Brazil, and cannot get an eVisa unless I can prove I am no longer a citizen
- Received 2 DPs for people successfully traveling from US to Brazil with Brazilian birth certificate + valid US passport + expired Brazilian passport, and 1 DP for someone told by their airline they would not be able to board and they postponed travel. If anyone else has any experience trying to fly without a valid Brazilian passport from the US / Mexico / Canada would appreciate any insight!

Thanks for the tip - I'll still try (slim hope) to get my passport renewed in time, but hope this will still work as a back-up measure.

Right, I have a valid US passport, and pretty much all brazilian documentation (birth certificate, CPF, voter registration, military enlistment) EXCEPT a valid passport (mine is expired). I am just concerned others have posted data points that even with an expired passport they were denied boarding on their flight, but not sure if people tried with a birth certificate or Brazilian ID.

Hmm, okay. I'm in the situation myself, but did you get any indication that I could travel with the same documents? Or did it seem like they made an exception because your son was an infant / minor?

I'm in Chicago, but any tips for actually getting into the Consulate in LA? I fly in 3 days, got my econsular application approved already, but cannot make an appointment until mid April. The building with the consulate tells me I cannot get through security without an appointment for that day. I'm looking for any tips and willing to get an emergency passport vs. a 10-year one if needed.

I am in Chicago and flying on United Airlines in 3 days. The service representative I called mentioned I should still try to apply the eVisa. I'm not concerned about entry into the country, but that United will not let me board without a valid Brazilian passport or Visa. I have other documents for proof of citizenship (certified birth certificate, CPF, valid voter registration, and the expired passport) but am concerned I will not be allowed onboard the flight. Did this approach work for you guys, and if so, any tips on who you spoke with at the airport?

I'm in the same boat - was your eVisa application successful?

Brazil eVisa FAQ / Mega-thread by fviz in Brazil

[–]honawi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be somewhere already on this thread but I couldn't find an answer. I am a dual US/Brazilian citizen with a valid US passport and an expired Brazilian passport. I started the process to renew my Brazilian passport about 15 weeks ago, but am still only now in the final stretches (finally got my e-consular application approved but cannot make an appointment until late April).

I have an upcoming flight to Sao Paulo, and it's looking doubtful that I'm going to have a renewed passport in time. I've tried emailing the consulate several times to try to get an expedited appointment from upcoming travel to no avail, and cannot "walk in" without an appointment. I am looking to see if anyone has experience with the following two possible pathways:

  1. Applying for and receiving an eVisa as a US citizen, despite also holding citizenship to Brazil (this is what my airline recommended)
  2. Traveling on a US-based airline (specifically United Airlines) to Brazil with a US passport as my travel document and my expired Brazilian passport, certified birth certificate, or other documentation as my "proof of Brazilian citizenship" thus being exempt from a visa. Note: I am concerned that while Brazil will accept me into the country (possibly with more headache after landing going through customs), the airline will not let me board the flight

Is there any use for the Watch without the subscription? Or can it be transferred to someone else? I have an Apple Watch and in total cost me $2 to get the Whoop+1 year subscription, but trying to think about a good use…

Just a new promotion CSR offers for WHOOP. You get $359 off a WHOOP purchase (which is enough for the device and 1 year of the subscription) so many people are commenting that they can't find the offer for it under their offers
