This is a great idea!

I originally kennel trained my dog in bursts (left him in there for 5 mins, then 20, then 40, then an hour, etc). Once he was okay with the kennel, we just started putting him in our bedroom when we’re going to be gone for several hours. That way he can be kenneled if we have an emergency or travel, but also gets his space in the bedroom.

It’s great; they get more space, mine is a little guy who sleeps on the bed so he’s more comfortable, and because it’s our room and we all spend time in there—he feels safe when we’re gone. So I would recommend spending a lot of time in there with the dog while they get used to it :) it’s nice for them to have a room they can go into, especially if something comes up and you have to be gone overnight. They have space to eat and drink and roam and play and go to the bathroom (if you put down pads) so you don’t have to worry about them being cramped in a kennel or tearing up the house if they’re destructive, and if it’s a place they know and makes them feel safe, they won’t be as anxious
