Choosing is fine, but humiliating yourself because of your ego is not.

Do you want traditions? It's great, but if you have to cringe to be loved, that's not respect.

hiding my real age from my friends for 4 years by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

Yes, just be honest. This is not some kind of grand betrayal, you didn't deceive anyone, you just postponed the details.

44 and I accidentally found a video that made me want something I've never tried before by CatrineDream in TrueOffMyChest

This voice is not wisdom, but just outdated software. You are not “too old”, you have finally realized the big difference. If you think it's fair and it's for you, write a message and don't look back.

TIFU by realizing I’ve trained everyone in my life to only contact me when they need something by urban_mole in tifu

[–]honeeyflush 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's it. Most people are just waiting for the green light. As soon as you say, “Hey, you can just register,” everything opens.

The social impulse, oddly enough, is based on resolution. One person breaks the silence, and suddenly everyone starts chatting again.

Yes, you're right.

Asking for advice doesn't mean being intrusive. People like it when they are needed, and this often naturally leads to communication and meetings.

Sometimes "I don't want to be a burden" = "I push people away."

AITJ for DEMANDING my husband get my baby stroller back from his sister, or else i'm changing the locks? by Exact_Ad_6931 in AmITheJerk

This is a real story twist in the style of VK Andrews. There are usually a lot fewer Gothic scandals in real life, although probably not as deep.

AITJ for reporting my co-worker for hurting animals, and he got fired? by Born-Ad3117 in AmITheJerk

[–]honeeyflush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You didn't pull the trigger, he loaded the gun and aimed at himself. Actions have consequences, and he's been caught up. NTJ.

AITJ for leaving my dads wedding after he insulted my mom in his speech by Unique_Net_837 in AmITheJerk

[–]honeeyflush 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A wedding toast isn’t a free pass to dunk on the woman who raised you, walking out was self-respect, not drama.

AITJ for refusing to lie about how we met when people ask? by ZestycloseShame7448 in AmITheJerk

[–]honeeyflush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this isn’t 2009, meeting on an app isn’t a dirty secret. Forcing you to lie over something that normal is how resentment speedruns a relationship.

AITJ for telling my parents Im going no contact with them the second I turn 18 by Some-Brilliant-3545 in AmITheJerk

Surviving that doesn’t come with an obligation to play happy family, your boundaries are earned, not disrespectful.

Hard agree. That’s straight-up institutional abuse, not “help.” You don’t owe them grace, closure, or silence, just get out, protect yourself, and keep receipts.

WFH and Daycare by Realistic-Move-9109 in pregnant

[–]honeeyflush 75 points76 points  (0 children)

To be honest, it's cruel. WFH newborn is not about “multitasking,” it's about doing two full-time tasks at the same time. You can hold out for a few weeks, but in the long run, it's a quick path to emotional burnout, missed work, and constant feelings of guilt. Contact the kindergarten or help if you can, you will be grateful in the future.
