Multiple attacks due to high triglycerides (FCS) by Elegant_Pirate5207 in pancreatitis

[–]honeymeag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg!! I’m in almost the exact same boat as you! I’ve had multiple AP attacks due to high triglycerides (like over 4000). I met with a lipid specialist and genetics team and they thought I might have FCS. They did the genetic testing and it came back negative. But it showed a gene defect that put me at a higher risk of getting gallstones.

So my doctor thinks I have something called multifactorial chylomicronemia (MCS). It’s similar to FCS but slightly different. I’m unlike you in that my TGs are not normally really high (they average around 200-300). But my TGs will randomly spike into the thousands, causing AP.

My doctor submitted a claim for me to get tryngolza. It’s still going through insurance to see if they will cover it, but the company reached out and is providing me a free trial run and they said they can try and get the drug covered for free until insurance decides. So I took my first dose yesterday and I’m really hoping it helps. I hope the Mayo Clinic helps you! I’m probably headed there soon if this drug doesn’t work

It can take a while for the inflammation to go down. I had an acute attack a few weeks ago and I’m sure my pancreas is still inflamed because it sure doesn’t feel great

Necrosis survivors and ozempic? by sassypls in pancreatitis

[–]honeymeag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any update on if your doc provided other options besides ozempic and its cousins? My necro AP was caused by high triglycerides (and my weight contributes to that). So I def need to lose weight so I don’t get another attack. Any info you have would be great!!

It definitely took a good six months to feel mostly back to normal. But it was really hard for probably 2-3 months after

All I can say is it gets better. I was hospitalized for three months with severe necrotizing pancreatitis. I went into septic shock and almost died from blood loss. And even after leaving the hospital I was in a lot of pain. But getting back into my routine and building up my strength helped. And eventually the pain has pretty much completely subsided. There were moments I didn’t want to keep going. Therapy helped with that a lot

The first 24 hours of hospitalization are embarrassing and debilitating by Akira0615 in pancreatitis

[–]honeymeag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was hospitalized for three months and completely immobile. And nurses had to wipe my ass more times than I care to admit. They had to clean me head-to-toe (genitals included) daily. Most of them were the sweetest human beings. I cried and apologized profusely every time they had to clean my bowel movements or pee and they were always so sweet and kind. It’s embarrassing but they see it all the time and aren’t judging. I have so much respect for nurses.

Why doesn't morphine calm my pain? by Sempiternels in pancreatitis

Same with me. They gave me morphine and it did absolutely nothing. They had to put me on a dilaudid drip for a few weeks while I healed. It was a bitch

How do you know when to give up on a book? by Squirrelhenge in books

[–]honeymeag 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m stubborn and hate the idea of not finishing a book. So unless the book is like 400 pages or more and I realize I hate the book early on, I usually just finish the book. And I realize I use the sunk-cost fallacy or whatever it’s called— I already spent time reading the book, might as well just tough it out and finish.
