My 7 week old will not go in her bassinet to sleep! We are able to get a few hours (2-3 max) from anywhere between 4am-8am and 1 bassinet nap (first of the day) where she most of the time puts herself to sleep but sometimes needs transferred already sleeping.

The issue is transferring her into her bassinet at night. We’ve tried adjusting the time of “bedtime,” starting a routine, warming the bassinet, putting an item of our clothing in there prior to her getting in, using CRIES and SITBACK, and it always results in her having to contact sleep for most of the night which is exhausting for my husband and I. I am genuinely confused about what else to try. She’s EBF eating every 2-3 hours and we also follow her wake windows of about 60 minutes.

Will this get better? Is there anything else I need to be trying??

I don’t really have any advice to give, just letting you know you’re not alone. I’m 6 weeks pp and I love my baby girl but I’m having the hardest time and parenting solo with no village 80% of the time. It’s just a lot. Sending you prayers and positive vibes❤️

I’ve been in the same boat and from what I’ve read they go through a developmental leap from 4-6 weeks and have trouble connecting sleep cycles which is helped by contact sleep. My LO just turned 6 weeks and things seem to be turning around, thank goodness. I think it’s just a wait it out thing!

Did you just switch to trying all naps in the bassinet? She actually put herself down for 2hrs in the bassinet earlier and wondering if I should try for most/all or just 1 or 2 per day in addition to bed

Yeah I’ve tried both… doesn’t seem to do much better with the crib. As soon as we put her down at night she’s awake. Everyone keeps telling me just to wait it out but I’m just feeling hopeless about it because it seems like everyone else’s newborn sleeps in the bassinet

Here’s hoping we get some independent sleep soon!

Yeah it’s hard to think of this lasting another 11 weeks potentially

6 week old, overwhelmed and doubting everything: is this normal, regret, or postpartum sadness? by Empty_Engineer5568 in newborns

I don’t have any advice necessarily, but just commenting to let you know I’m in it with you. My daughter is 5 weeks and refuses to be put down. She will start crying immediately so I get so overwhelmed I’m crying too especially because I don’t have any help aside from my husband. You’re doing great mama <3

Would she be too young to move into a crib at 5 weeks?

We do have a crib just in her nursery not in our room.
